A mate was always saying my mille was a donkey, which is a fair point on a British dual carriageway or open A road. But on the B roads is where a mille shines, the torque out of a corner is mighty. On a twisty B road with 2-300m straights between corners the torque of the twin shoots you out of the corner from low revs, then before you know it your at the next corner before the in-line 4 has a chance to use the top end power.

Your mate was wrong. A donkey how? Because it is a proper hairy chested man sized bike? I have no problem sticking with modern bikes on any roads on my mille because most riders don't have the experience or skills to ride properly. The mille's top speed is irrelevant...its fast enough at close on 170mph but even an s1000r is no quicker to 60 or from 40 to 80 and handles no better. The mille, make no mistake, is a full on race bred bike for the road. That chassis is as good as anything made today and that engine far more relevant in the real world. The only modern bike coming close in all departments but more refined. Is the Ducati Pinagale V2. The rsv mille I consider to be one of the best road bikes of all time. No rider aids, just raw grunt wrapped up in a sublime chassis.

Got to agree. Love my mille. It's a beast. A Honda SP owning mate of mine decided to swap bikes with me, he left me for dead on my Mille. The SP was uncomfortable and no where near as torque laden. He didn't say much swapping bikes back but later said he didn't want to tell me the truth.. He said the mille was really good but didn't want me to know it. I'm on my second Mille.

Just about to buy another mille for tea k work love them had most bikes but love a gen 1 mille . Also all leathers no gloves not so clever
