Aprilia RS 660 's full breakdown of dashboard, menus and controls

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I have noticed since I own this bike that there's a lot of people who want a full analysis of the display, menus and options available in the Aprilia RS 660 so after having it for a few months already I thought that I could help with that.
Hope you enjoy and find it useful and please do not doubt about adding anything I might have missed on a comment or simply correct me on something.

    Hello Alan! Thanks for your words and tip. I did hear about this before in the Facebook Aprilia RS 660 and Tuono 660 Owners group but when I try my bike does not do it, so I'm a bit confused. That's why I didn't mention it. Will try to investigate! PD. Okay, I kept trying to do it to the right because in my mind it made more sense. Does work if you do it to the left haha

    Hello, Just bought tuono 660 last week and after the first ride around 50 km got CEL / Check Engine Light in other words MI warning light on the left side on the dashboard , is it normal for aprillia or smth serious? I heard that sometimes the error goes away on its own, but still what kind of nonsense is this, Is this what I think based on the recall of motors? it is not very convenient to strain dealers every time, but it will be necessary if the error does not go away. Have you experienced this?

    Hi Bernad! Do a flying lap while having the race mode on with the timer, as you cross the line, use thr trigger for the high beam (the one just by the clutch) and again when you finish cross the line again for the second time. Some people say, theirs will require of flashing the lights everytime. Try to use it while paired to mía, I believe that's the key. I always use it like that since I want the telemetry.

    I'm curious about the self canceling indicators. In the manual it states that they use a timer 40 sec and if you move the bike it resets. It does not say anything about canceling them if you start accelerating (done with the turn) is that true? Do you really need to wait 40 sec for them to cancel?

  • @HormigaZ

    @HormigaZ

    3 жыл бұрын

    Well it's one of those things that I wanted to leave for a proper review of the bike because yeah as I mentioned in the vid here, I'm not really aware of how they work and I'm going to need to test it. I have this compulsive habit of canceling them every few minutes anyway just in case I forgot to do it when it was needed, so it's not something I rely on a lot. Will investigate and reply back!

  • @nexarx7215

    @nexarx7215

    According to my manual the self canceling function works as follows: "If the bike is stationary , the indicators will not turn off. If the bike is moving, the indicators will turn off if one of the following requirements is met: 1. After a time t=40s. 2. After a driven distance of 500m (0.31miles). If the bike stops moving during that time (or distance), i.e. the speed value equals 0kph (mph), the timer will reset to zero. As soon as the bike starts moving again, the timer starts again from 0 (true for time and distance) If you change the turn signal (i.e. changing it from left to right or from right to left) without turning the indicator off in between, the timer (for time and distance) resets again and starts from zero." Your acceleration doesn't influence this at all, which makes sense. For example: You try and merge onto a highway (or autobahn for Germans), and indicate to change lanes. Then you accelerate up to the speed of traffic before you change lanes. Would be stupid if the indicators got turned off then. Extra info: If you're already indicating to turn right and activate the switch again to indicate a right turn, the timer will not reset. Which is pretty annoying if you're used to not turning your indicator off if you need to make more than turn in the same direction (happens for me especially when I exit the highway or autobahn, and then need to turn right again after 150m or so). I just got used to turning my indicator off, then immediately reactivating it. It's annoying, but better than not indicating or constantly looking down to see when the indicators are off so you can restart them. I have translated the manual from German, so the exact wording might be different. Hope I could help, even if 10 months late.

  • @DarkInovator

    @DarkInovator

    @Nexar X7 I've already tested it on my bike it dose not work well, its like you dont even have canceling turn signals. The 500m safety cancel is too much. The bmw s1000r that I have demoed at the end of the year had this feature implemented perfectly. I also have the latest sofware on my rs 660, so if you buy the bike treate it like it has no self canceling signals.

  • @nexarx7215

    @nexarx7215

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@DarkInovator I don't really like the feature either. Like I said, when I exit the autobahn and indicate 300m before the exit lane (like you are supposed to in Germany) my indicators turn off halfway on the exit lane, even though I need to make another right turn for which I usually just leave my indicator on. I never really had a problem with forgetting to turn my indicators off either, it only ever happened twice, right when I started riding, so I'd be much happier if the bike didn't have that feature. I think it's generally a useful tool, but they should let me turn it off. I can turn the auto blipper off, so why not the self canceling turn signals?

    At 8:40 you discuss AEB (Engine Brake) setting. You say it's "self explanatory," but I am quite sure it is not at all what most people assume it to be. You say you don't notice a difference in engine braking when you change the setting, and I agree that I can not notice any difference, and that is because in most circumstances there actually is NOT any difference in the level of engine braking. The AEB system only reduces engine braking in the event that it thinks engine braking is causing a slide. Just the same as ABS reduces braking force when the normal brakes would cause a slide. Per user manual, AEB level 1 is "lowest degree of supervision and control by the system" and level 3 is "highest degree of supervision and control by the system." Certainly not a good explanation from the user manual, but based on that, in a situation where engine braking is causing a slide, level 1 is less likely to intervene to reduce engine braking, and level 3 is more likely to intervene to reduce engine braking. Or in other words, only in the event of a slide, level 1 will retain more engine braking, level 3 will reduce engine braking.

  • @adamharnois7072

    @adamharnois7072

    3 ай бұрын

    I have personally noticed this AEB feature intervene only once so far (about 3 or 4k miles), and it was during a track day, AEB set on level 2, braking very hard at the end of a straight approaching a sharp turn, front brake only, downshifting to keep the rpms high, rear tire barely skimming the ground, felt the engine sound and vibration change a bit and sustained the whole way through the braking zone. It was clearly doing something to reduce engine braking. It did not cause me any issue but I also doubt that it was helpful.

    TLDR: Cruise Control Max Speed 180kph I know I'm pretty late, but I just recently bought my RS660 and then had to do break in first, so no going past 7000 rpm and no testing stuff at high speed. Anyway, thanks to the german autobahn, I can tell you that cruise control works up to 180kph in 6th gear. At speeds higher than that you simply cannot activate it, and you can't go over 180kph by using the "increase speed" function of the cruise control switch. I haven't tried out the top speeds for other gears, since I still need to keep it under 9000rpm for another 1000km (now only 600km). For the same reason I wasn't able to get a proper top speed test in yet, but that's definitely going to happen one day. Let me know if you're interested in the results. Edit: Cruise Control Speed Range: 1st gear: - 2nd gear: - 3rd gear: 35kph-100kph 4th gear: 50kph-110kph 5th gear: 60kph-140kph 6th gear: 70kph-180kph Current Top Speed of the bike: 247kph on the speedometer 242kph GPS speed (measured with MIA) *Edit 2: Top speeds are outdated. New top speeds are: 251kph on the speedometer 247kph GPS speed (measured with MIA)* Bike is stock, with no power mods or gearing changes. Had to slow down for traffic; if the bike isn't Software-limited I think 250-255 on speedometer should be achievable, maybe even 260+ on a lucky day. Edit: The hazard lights are not working on my bike. When I asked my dealer about it and mentioned the use of the left turn signal switch to activate hazards, they told me they never heard of that before. I only ever heard of hazards turning on by holding the turn signal switch to left with models in other countries (mostly USA and Canada). I suspect they only included that feature in the North American models, possibly for legal reasons (my dealership told me they are not legally required in Germany), but I didn't do enough research to be sure. I find it pretty weird anyway why they'd have a feature and not include it in every model, since it's not any added cost to them to make the necessary software updates for Euromodels.

    Often the RS wet is below 183kg, but even then, 25 kilos won't do a lot of difference if you struggle with 207. Sure, it will help, but it will only decrease the size of the problem a bit. In that sense, I encourage you to learn with calmness to control the weight of the bike. I've female friends that ride bikes over 300kgs and sure, it takes skill and it is difficult but it's not impossible and it is normal that you feel overwhelmed by handling the bike especially when not moving at the beginning. If I were you, I'd buy a very cheap low CC bike that has less weight and try to learn with a bit less fear of dropping it to then translate the skills to the bigger bike.

    @@jampicr really? I'm very honored to have you ask feedback from me. I would like to know why you decided to go for a route book style indication for the gps guideance instead of maps? I am not used to that kind of indication and I get lost quite a bit but that's probably my fault. I would also really like to export/import gpx files to upload a route from google maps, for example. Also, if we could expect some further integration with iOS and Android in the future? It could help if the pairing was a little bit simpler, many are having problems with it. The other only thing I believe some would appreciate is the ability to increase the tickrate of the info gathering in the telemtry for the app, I'm sure for some it would make it so that no other tool would be needed for tracking session in the racetrack. Thank you very much for your comment!

    @@HormigaZ Hi, I can't give you technical details. The choice of the root book was made for architectural reasons - the dashboard is just a viewer, and shows what the app thinks should be shown. For the management of the gpx, you have to ask who made the application for the phone. What I can tell you is that it was a great experience working with Aprilia, and the high number of videos I found on youtube confirms this. Bye!

    @@jampicr , question for you then, why there is no info about how much more you can ride the bike on what is left in the tank? This is kinda frustrating for a bike full of technologies has no estimate.
