Hahaha... my undergrad degree is in Advertising, and I've had jobs in sales. I've also been quilting 30 years. ❤️ All of that comes together in this video, for sure. Though I missed a great opportunity for a "but wait, there is more!" moment. 😆

KZread puts ads before and after videos. It is how they make money, and how they pay people like me for making videos that we post on here. They usually try to tailor the ads you see to the kind of stuff you look at already. So, I often get business ads - where to buy shipping boxes, printing companies, and website companies. If you or someone who uses your computer was searching for bras recently, that would explain the ads you're seeing. ❤️ If you want to see different ads, start looking up cruise vacations... they'll show you vacation ads instead! 😍

An April Fools joke.? Today is April 4, 2024. This is the first time I have viewed any of your videos. I was thinking, why would I want to buy that ruler? I'm not impressed. Every ruler I own now is better than that ruler.

This was posted at 1am on April 1st. Taking it down at the end of the day would be a shame... And yes, I would think that every ruler you own would be better than this, since each "feature" makes it more and more worthless. I've been quilting over 30 years, and I design notions (notions that are genuinely useful - like the Spot on Dots, Boxed Bag Template, Foundation Piecing Water Pen, and Glow Ruler). Drawing on my experience, I created what is really the "anti-ruler." * No markings or guidelines at all * A curve that really has no function and is never explained. * A small edge with a nonspecific measurement. * A "kinda quarter inch" * Edges that are nearly parallel... but not. Each of these is the exact *opposite* of what would be useful in a ruler. Coming up with such a list of non-useful items and putting together a video that has entertained tens of thousands of people... that feels like it should be at least a little impressive? If this video wasn't for you, feel free to check out the hundreds of other quilting videos I have here on KZread. I think those will be more in line with what you're looking for. ❤️

If you wanted people to like this Tyler you need to make it visible. I am not willing to see the whole video because I cannot see the whole ruler.

I'm so confused! My name isn't Tyler? I do show the whole ruler. In fact, I go over specific features and show them one by one... It is a clear acrylic ruler. Showing something clear on video is very tricky... but it happens at several points in the video. 🤷‍♀️

I'm so confused by this comment. You could have swiped away at any time, but chose to watch. I didn't force you to be here. This was absolutely a parody, but a well-done parody (which was my aim) also points to true things. For us as quilters, in this video, that would be the importance of parallel lines on a ruler, having accurate measurements and lines, and understanding our quarter inch (to name a few). By showing a "ruler" that does none of these things well, it highlights the value of well-thought-out tools that do help us on our quilting journey. And that quilting is more than just cutting up fabric and sewing it back together. ❤️ Perhaps what you're expressing in this comment is that you're upset because you feel I tricked you. Which is a very human response. I represented myself as a knowledgeable expert, you trusted me, and I intentionally steered you wrong at multiple points in the video. That was unkind of me. My sincere hope in posting this was that people would take pleasure in being taken on that journey. The feeling of being on a roller coaster and airplane turbulence are the same - but the roller coaster is fun because you know you're not in any real danger. Which is the same premise here - you were "tricked," but with no malice, and the intent was always to bring you in on the joke. ❤️ But if you don't like roller coasters, then neither is fun. And not being asked if you're up for a roller coaster ride before being thrown on one isn't fair. Hopefully you'll enjoy the other videos I have. I only diverted from directly helpful content on the one day of the 366 this year. ❤️
