You can find it! I wanted a 2019 Toyota Highlander Platinum AWD white pearl. We were patient, but lined all the finances up so when we found it we could pull the trigger. One popped up at a local dealership on a Saturday trde in. We were there at opening on Monday, asked to see it, and bought it before lunch. It only had 34K and not a scratch. Patience and vigilance and preparation paid off for us. We also got a killer deal because we did our own money which allowed us to get the extra warranty and paid cash for it. This was just in October

2008 Corolla and 2004 Highlander owner here. I’m sticking with Toyota but keeping them til the wheels fall off. Currently have 205,000 and 185,000 miles and no sign of trouble. Road trip to Minnesota next month. When I do buy it might be an older one as I just can’t rationalize spending that much when our house cost $52,000. My corolla was a rental car before I bought it. That was 13 years ago

That’s always been our plan! And honestly at this point in time, the van is more of a want than a need 🤷🏻‍♀️

I had a rental car for a week or two while my car was in the shop. I drive a Nissan Sentra and I had a Chrysler Pacifica with heated seats, heated steering wheel and a backup camera. I almost did not want to return it! I do not have children and it is just me… and I still wanted to keep the minivan!

Used vehicles that are a few years old with decent mileage are outrageous right now as well. Buying a new vehicle is always sketchy in my mind ... first off there are always so many bugs and you don't know til later in the year or a few years down the road AND you drive it off the lot and loose thousands and thousands off what the vehicle is worth.

Do you mind my asking what method you are using to pay off your mortgage quicker?

We’re not really following a specific method. I’ve calculated how much extra we have to pay towards our principal balance in order to pay off the mortgage in half the amount of time. That amount is reflected in the $2,750. Then we add an additional principal payment at the end of the month with anything additional we saved that month. Our interest rate is 5.25% and we’ve had our home for about 2 years and there’s no immediate opportunity to refinance so we’ll continue to pay it down until things change or our house is paid off 🤣

That’s a great idea! We’re planning to stick with Toyota and the rental was a Chrysler so it wouldn’t necessarily work in our situation but a great point!
