    They did a really nice job with Improbable at the gate, recognizing he needed to be backed out and reloaded to avoid him exploding on them. And what about Omaha Beach! He stared Game Winner in the eye and would not give him any ground, now the same with Improbable! I like him a lot, he is gritty and knows how to dig in. That's heart and you can't train that into them. He's peaking at the perfect time!

    Also nobody wants to mention the fact that as soon as the leaders in the Arkansas Derby tried to slow the pace down Omaha beach all on his own moved up and took the lead. Either Mike Smith or RICHARD Mandella said that I can’t remember which. But that is a serious attribute not many race horses possess! I’ve seen all the greats from secretariat on and only a handful have this ability

    @@vincentflauto7650 Thanks! I'm very high on this horse, he is special. Absolutely agree with you on him moving forward to press that pace, rather than falling into line with it. That's the kind of enthusiasm that wins races. Just another little tidbit on him...if you look at his breeding, he possesses the xfactor on both sides of his pedigree, which is the large heart gene that Secretariat had. Now, that's not terribly unusual since they have identified what lines it comes from and now breed for it. However, given his proven talent and zest for racing, that can only be a good thing. The majority of Kentucky Derby winners for the past 30 years have possessed this gene, including our last two Triple Crown winners. Barbaro had it, Nyquest had it, Uncle Mo had it, Mine That Bird and many others all had this gene. It's the one genetic "defect" that actually improves performance, rather than hindering it. I hope Mike Smith chooses this horse, Mike would give him the best shot at a decent trip. The only one I worry about is Maximum Security if he can get out front, since he's so fast. He could really reek some havoc if he's allowed to control the pace.

    Watch mike smith's interview on RACING TV... He was asked which horse excites you this year... he said "roadster and omaha beach"... both are now joint favs for kentucky after winning santa anita and arkansas derby @3/1... double would've been 16/1... I respect his honesty and that's what we need in this sport

    Mike Smith will definitely have a tough choice he just rode a Triple Crown winner for Baffert and he knows there’s a long list of horses he will have to ride for him in the future so that gives the edge to roadster. But Omaha beaches Triple Crown Pedegree is definitely better than roadsters if you look And know what you’re looking at. Also the fact that Omaha beaches trainer says he is growing and maturing right now he actually grew and matured from the rebel to the Arkansas Derby! This is a big factor at this time of year that’s why the derby is always the best barometer and the cream always rises to the top! But Don’t be surprised if Mike Smith chooses Omaha Beach. Also the fact that Omaha beach has proven himself in tough races and roadster had a perfect trip in his last race with the perfect set up.

    The key to this race is watching the gallop out! Omaha beach kept going very fluidly and looking for more! improbable couldn’t keep up with him after the wire. The only time Mike Smith asked this horse to do anything was with two taps of the whip past the 16th pole to keep him straight and mind on business! he left plenty in the tank! and like I said his gallop out was very strong! Anyone who wants to say he’s just a mudder is out of their mind! This horse has won on turf on fast dirt and slop he can absolutely handle anything! One comparison I would make to him would be Barbaro. And God only knows how good he would’ve been if he didn’t get hurt in the Preakness.

    @ Wayne Harrison LOL. Yeah, you keep telling yourself that about the Rebel! As soon as Omaha Beach got GW in his vision he put it into another gear, and never let him by in the race or the gallop out. That race could have been a 1/4 mile longer, and GW was never getting by OB in the Rebel! Smith was also hand riding OB through the bulk of the stretch in the Rebel,, whereas Rosario was pounding away on GW from before the 1/4 pole. OB will have no problem with the Derby distance, as for GW who knows? A nice horse, who has now failed in the stretch of his last two Derby preps with no excuses. And in the Ark Derby Improbable had no excuses either. As soon as OB sensed his presence it was again into another gear to keep Improbable at bay.

    Wayne Harrison seriously If you know anything about gallops out then you’ll know he never would’ve passed him Omaha beachs Gallop out was way stronger. God man you got a seriously question your abilities on how to read horses. Not to say that I don’t think game-winner is a good animal he had a very strong gallop out in the Santa Anita Derby he probably needed the race in the rebel. I think he will be very formidable in the derby also he has fantastic Triple Crown breeding. I’m not trying to say he is not a good horse.

    Mike Smith will probably be swayed by the fact that he will get a lot more mounts riding for Baffert then he will for Mandella. but I still think he has a very tough decision and if I was him I would want a horse that is more tractable and can rate just off of any pace and with A quick turn of foot to stay out of trouble. that would point to Omaha beach, roadster is more of a one run horse . But Rodster is a very good horse that’s moving forward and still has a very good chance, but if I was Mike Smith Omaha beach would be my choice.

    I have another bit of analysis from the Santa Anita Derby. In the middle of the stretch Smith on roadster had to go to a pretty heavy left handed whip to stop roadster from lugging in then as soon as they crossed the wire he bore out and slowed down in his gallop out while game-winner galloped out very strong? Hhhmmm just food for thought

    thecockerel don’t count your chickens do your Pedegree homework and you’ll see Omaha beach and game-winner have serious Triple Crown breeding on both sides of the family and definitely have better numbers to go more distance than roadster. Not to say roadster doesn’t have a shot but I have a feeling he won’t like the distance as much is the other two I mentioned

    DoubleDogDare54 if you know anything about pedigree you’ll understand. war chant was a miler I believe he won the breeders cup mile turf. He also won at a mile and an eighth. There of been many great sires that were not great at distance but they breed horses that will run all day. Just one example,look at Mr. prospector. Besides The female family has serious distance and Triple Crown experience and so does war chat like I said if you know anything about pedigree you’ll see it.

    Also look at last year‘s Triple Crown winner his Pedegree was screaming sprinter. Confirmation also has a lot to do with it and this horse is built like a distance horse. also he has a very quick turn of foot which will keep him out of trouble in the derby I will definitely make the first run for the lead before everyone else gets cranked up.

    Slow fractions. Easy lead. Never be impressed by a horse that wins like that. That field was weak. And Improbable blew his race before the gates even opened. Mike Smith will choose to ride the Baffert horse, not this one.

  • @vincentflauto7650

    @vincentflauto7650

    Larry Thiel The fractions were not slow they were very honest and the horse did everything on his own, Mike Smith never asked him to go to the lead on the backstretch The horse did it all on his own. And he wasn’t asked for his best at all he had plenty left for the finish and his gallop out was very strong. also the fact that his time was faster than the two races run by older handicap horses. If you think that was it Weak field you’re absolutely wrong improbable is one of the top prospects for the derby this year and he also beat game-winner in his last race. His class is absolutely as good as anyone’s this year, and if you happen to know anything about Triple Crown racing all the best horses don’t get together until the derby so every field has it’s suspect runners. You should definitely rethink what you’re about to say before you print it because you obviously do not know what you’re talking about.

    Larry Thiel The race was just a work out to keep him sharp for the derby that’s what these prep races are for. you’re not supposed to kill your horses here you’re supposed to win the derby.
