Approvals in Microsoft Teams - an everyday overview

Learn how to use the new Approvals app to run a file or request through an approval in private chat, a Team, the central Approvals hub, or by building your own approvals workflows in Power Automate. That said, Approvals is not a sophisticated approval tool (yet), so you don’t want to miss the caveats we cover in this video, especially limitations on serial and concurrent approval requests. Approvals in Teams is also not a signature tool, but it can integrate with Adobe Sign and DocuSign. There’s a lot of great things you can do with Approvals, but you want to watch out for what you can’t do before you really put it into play.

Thanks for the video, great overview. I would like your thoughts on if we could leverage approvals somehow to get consent from attendees to record a meeting prior to a meeting starting?

Another way to do that Chris would be to use a quick poll in Microsoft Forms. Can be surfaced before or during the meeting as a live poll and the results used in different ways.

Can you add an attachment option when you create a custom template from scratch? If so how?
How long the data will be stored?
Approvals in Teams has gone live a bit prematurely I feel. I was loving the options using power automate, but now since it doesn’t event support markdown the nice cards that I had emailing people look crap in teams, and spam their notifications! Has been a bit of a niggly launch. Hopefully in a few interations time it will work itself out and have more use.
What if I want to share approval to all my team members? Should I write all the names? There is no shortcut to do that? Thank you

I used a bulletin with the apps logo as the banner with instructions for my team to add the app and pin it. You can always just add the app to a channel and “post to channel” or send in chat group. Just don’t forgot to use a subject line, every time (thanks Matt!!) and feel free to pass on my PSA: “accidental” new conversation replies will not be tolerated and are punishable by HR approved Gif hazing for up to 300 secs. How to make open approval request is visible by team members? Without that these 'approvals' are just useless toy.
