Applying POR-15 Fuel Tank Sealer (True Spirit # 42)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

To keep the new gas tank in my Power Wagon from rusting inside, I'm going to give POR-15 Fuel Tank Sealer a try. I've never used it before and it's not sponsoring the video, but I've heard good things about their products. I won't know how well it works for some time, though, since there's a lot left to do on this truck before it gets gas.

I did this on an old tractor tank a few years ago. It was not POR15, different brand, but it did not work at all. Despite following the instructions exactly, I'm still dealing with the epoxy chunks peeling off inside and the rust is worse now. I hope yours works out better than mine.

That doesn't instill confidence. I hope I have better luck as well.

@@YoshimoshiGarage I think the biggest issue was it was impossible to get the epoxy onto the baffles, so they were left untreated and I'm sure that's where the peeling started and progressed from there.

same here with several M/C tanks all peeled ...interesting thing was on a split HD tank one side peeled other didn't other set done at same time by another person same product did the same ...I have a theory that the etching agent loses its strength after doing the first half

Just wondering how long it will last when exposed to fuel....ethanol and the additives they use in today's gas is the main culprit for moisture absorption.... I have done boats where I pulled over 5 gallons of water mixed in the fuel... Pure gasoline does not absorb as much water from the air as E10 or become as corrosive as quickly.

We'll see, but it's got to be better than raw steel. I hope, anyway
