​@@ramironetto2797i both agree and disagree. Joey helped make Slipknot what they are today so for that he is a legend. Jay was always mediocre in my opinion and not the right fit for SK but got the gig because of his Dad I always felt, could be wrong but that's how it seemed. Eloy is a powerhouse and has some insane chops, poly rythm ability and groove that should make for some awesome new music.

@@AdamTrautmanBowling I remember KRIMH was the popular choice to replace Jordison a decade ago but to everyone's surprise Jay got the gig.

I met Eloy 8 or so years ago when I was living in Texas and saw Sepultura live at a small venue. They were so loud the almost took down the place and the fans nearly ripped off the metal bar separating band from stage. I had the privilege to hang out with them after the concert and the whole band were some of the coolest dudes I've met - when I shook Eloy's hand and told him what an amazing drummer he was, he responded with the most humble thanks, as if he were equally saying it to someone he really looked up to or just a fan like me. So not only is he arguably one of the best drummers alive, but also an humble, driven, and inspirational human being.

I have heard some of Eloy's drumming and knew he was incredible but this blew my freaking mind! Wtf? He is so dynamic it's unreal. He doesn't just play speed drumming, the feel, emotion, and smooth transitions make him create a style that is truly his. All his knowledge and experience adds up to this video. Wow. There are so many great drummers in the world but Eloy has stood out and the Brazilian rhythms in the music is a personal favorite style of mine. This absolutely worth watching multiple times, especially for drummers. Thank you Drumeo for the video.

He used to teach in the city I am from in Brazil a few years back and he is indeed the coolest, politest , normal down to earth guy , met him many times there and at NAMM, always nice, always with a smile, laughing .. good to see amazing things happening to him, he deserves all of it.

Eloy is so versatile he could manage to play with Animals as Leaders, Foo Fighters, Vulfpeck, Slipknot and Sepultura with absolute ease.

I checked a brazilian samba drummer masterclass where he explains that independent dynamics between each of the "instruments" (hands and feet on a drumkit) are very important for brazilian stuff, to the point where it is almost objectivelly wrong to play those rhythms without taking these dynamics into account. You can see Eloy clearly does this when he plays.

Hes also rather fit and works out clearly, if you put on enough muscle, hitting hard comes more natural, allowing u to be more dynamic too, as u wont have to try too hard to also hit hard.

I don’t even play drums but I could listen to him talk about his culture and country all day. You can feel the passion and love he has for Brazil through the phone screen 🤘🏻

Eloy is a drummers drummer.. One of them dudes that us drummers just watch in awe and confusion. Love the inspiration he gives. So happy Slipknot got him.

I saw him playing with sepultura live, and Igor Cavallera with Cavallera Brothers live too, and Igor hit herder.

This wasn't just a conversation. This is beyond a masterclass. Especially for those outside of Brazil, with the different variations and references into our styles.

This guy is unbelievable. He is actually too good for slipknot. How’s it even possible to be noticeably better than Jordison and Weinberg combined?!

He is better in every aspect, technical, creative, etc. But Joey wrote all those songs and has influenced Eloy. He walked so Eloy could fly. It's more a matter of respect than anything else.

I've watched that performance like 50 times now. It's one of my all time favorite drum performances ever. Simply phenomenal. I really like the song too.

@@rafaeltardelle Gene Hoglan is the only other guy right now that's in that upper echelon, but even then, Eloy is just such an absolute beast everywhere on the kit. I've watched this performance of Resolution about a dozen times already. Incredible drummer!

To this day, watching this guy play live was one of the most cathartic experiences I've ever had in my life. I was utterly, completely and absolutely blown away. I'm a not a religious person, but I'm sure I touched heaven there.

My eyes are glued to him... every single note he plays is full of love and intention... the drum tone, the precision. Addictive drummer!

The whole video and performance is awesome but that groove at 38:54 makes me dance in my chair. Only another crazy Brazilian drummer like Eloy could replace Igor Cavalera so well I'm glad Sepultura knew that. They were one of my favorite bands as a teenager, the album Chaos AD was absolutely insane at the time it came out I went nuts in the school. I'm going to listen more work from this guy now. Big hugs from Portugal!

I have an old dvd of when he was about 13 playing at the modern drummer festival as an up and comer he was fantastic then and i thought man when this kid actually grows up what the heck is he gonna be like........Well here you go just mind blowing!

What a monster of a drummer! I'm just speechless at how amazingly talented; the stamina, verstile, dynamic although hitting the drums hard and accentuating a lot, creative and mostly genuine and loyal to his cultural background. He has been one of my favourire drummers of all time since I knew him couple of years ago. Thank you Dtumeo for inviting this humble artist and Thank you Eloy for entertaining us!

I am so happy seeing this on YT. I've been wrestling with an idea of combining metal genres with traditional afro-brazilian rhythms, which I've been rigorously studying, for the past 6 years. I am so glad that I am not alone seeing this (seemingly) weird connection. It brings me some kind of validation, even more when it comes from someone not just technically superior but also very deeply connected to the Brazilian culture. Something tells me I'm on a right path. And also, that intro track rocks so hard, man! Now I know what to listen for in the near future. Muito obrigado 🙏🇧🇷

This guy is top notch! 👌 Discovered him through his incredible cover of Warpigs that I found when I had to learn that song for a gig. I became a fan immediately upon seeing that video. His playing is incredible and seems like a nice guy too.👍

Slipknot: we made a creative decision to part ways with jay. The creative decision: eloy lmao.

I remember back in time watching his video when he was a kid playing on festivals. Look at him now, he's a beast🤘

Eloy is freaking amazing. Power, speed and musical.

Saw him a couple weeks ago on the sepultura kreator tour and he’s easily the best drummer I’ve ever seen in play in person

im just learning more about him since el estepario started talking about him. then seen the slipknot and some of the sepultura stuff since. this is my favorite of what ive seen from him so far though. sick!

I like how humble and respectful he is for his influences.
