Applying Anchorseal to Madrone Lumber Gets Ugly
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
I milled some Madrone lumber on my Woodmizer LT 15 sawmill. Now to get it to dry straight. Madrone is known for warping and cracking when it dries. I am going to put Anchorseal on the end grain. Then sticker the lumber and pile a bunch of weight on top. I cut down a Ponderosa pine tree with my Stihl MS 462 chainsaw. Cut it into logs that I take to the mill with my Massey Ferguson MF 30 tractor. I mill those logs into blue pine lumber. Then I have a big change of plans, involving a trail camera and a bunch of animals.

This Channel is becoming one of my favorite Content viewing. I can relate to Forest Management because I have been doing that for 30 years. My Family Farm is where I am at peace, and my Saw breaks the silence...lol
That's why God gave you your talent being a sawyer and not a painter like your videos thank you for sharing your time and since of humor 😊

I use Anchorseal on walnut logs. Try sealing the end of the log before you mill them. Way easier.

I couldn’t tell you how much madrone I’ve run through the wood splitter. And a lot through the wood stove. I always thought it was a shame to burn such beautiful wood. After these dry I might find out why it is we just burn it.

I had another animal one time that looked even more like a chupacabra but it ended up being just a squirrel in a weird position.
I'd consider sealing the edges too, the more you can slow down the drying process with Madrone the better. Putting too much weight on it would make me nervous, tension has to go somewhere so it may just lead to splitting.
@WilsonForestLands

This is mostly just an experiment with the Madrone. We’ll see if you are right about it splitting. Maybe I should do the next batch without putting so much weight on and see what the difference is.
Good show thanks
At 11:36, you must have a stray elephant running around your place. It must be one of those miniature ones. Then again, it could be a saber toothed puddy tat with his head tilted back to show his beautiful teeth. Wait a minute, I bet it's a walrus. You do have some pretty cool animals around you place. Good luck on the trail cams.

Yep I have already thought of that. Fortunately I am much better with solids than I am with liquids.
Yep, that's what the retaining clips are for. Plastic 'tin lids' don't seal quite like metal 'paint tin' lids. Too many customers having 'tins' fall over and going 'splort' in their posh cars led to the risk management people mandating the clips..... Steel is more recyclable than plastic, but plastic is cheaper and lighter, so plastic it is.

There's Dead, Deader and Deaderest. Not, however, to be confused with "Mostly-Dead" which is a different kettle of fish, to mix metaphors. Sometimes after felling and limbing a tree, once the sawlogs are removed, the ghostly outline can be seen where the trunk had been; but other folks use their Farmi winches to push it all away before viewing... Love that "turbo-mode" on your mill -- I gotta git me one o' them. My vote for the mystery critter is the fox. It's about the correct height and it seems the most photogenic. I also saw a deer bum and Bigfoot incognito. Another likeroo and cheers from your neighbor in Linn County.

I zoomed in more on that mystery picture afterward. I think you are right about it being a fox. There isn’t an orchard in the background. The only trees that might be orchard looking are some young white oak that are in the area around the sawmill. There are about four apple trees on other parts of the property. I am guessing they grew from somebody throwing out an apple core a long time ago. Only one of them has ever produced and like you say, an obscure variety.
