Destinations have very different and unequal paths ahead of them: some will find it easier to decarbonise than others, and some are more vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. What might that mean for tourism businesses and governments seeking to take effective climate action? We’ll explore the concept of “climate justice” and offer a space for questions such as:
1. In what ways is the travel and tourism sector linked with climate-related injustices?
2. How might travel and tourism address these and support a “just transition”?
3. What does inclusive tourism look like?
The conversation will inform research being undertaken by the University of Waterloo (Canada) in partnership with the Center for Responsible Travel, Cuidadores de Destinos, Tourism Cares and the Travel Foundation with support from Expedia Group.
