Appletreewick Village & River Wharf Walk | Yorkshire Dales National Park | 4K

The weather fell good for me and i managed to get some drone footage at the start and end of this walk, capturing some of the scenic Yorkshire dales countryside. I then take a walk through this small peaceful village of Appletreewick. Once through the village, i take a walk on the bank of the stunning river Wharf. The village prospered from the year 1300 when Bolton Priory acquired its manor with its extensive sheep ranges and valuable lead mines. Charters for markets and a fair were granted and the latter remained important until the impact of the railways in the mid-19th century. The Ap-trick Onion Fair celebrated all manner of things, but given its name, it was chiefly remembered for being an avenue to sell lots of onions that were brought into the village especially for the fair. Records show that fight broke out between the Lord Clifford's of Skipton Castle and the Nortons of Rylstone Manor. This reinforces the belief that Appletreewick was more important than Burnsall at that time, as both noble families were in attendance. Stone houses line the steep, main street between High Hall at the top and Low Hall at the bottom.

Thank you very much Ian! Yes, think that is the quietest I've seen it..was very tempted to stop and have a pint and enjoy the Tranquility! Was nice to be able to get the drone up..still need abit more practise at flying it backwards, as I reverse that video to get the landing in the village bit😄 Going to head back over there soon and capture a lime stone cragg walk, which looks really nice.. thanks again 👍🥾

That's brought some memories back. Back in the mid 90s I went on a Scout camp to Appletreewick for a week right down by the River Wharfe. On the Sunday we were marched into the village to that church and made to sing hymns etc. There were about 30 of us and only 4 of 5 local elderly women parishioners and they seemed absolutely horrified by our presence lol.

Another 38 minutes very well spent. Such a gorgeous walk and I didn't have to move a muscle😂. I took loved the drone shots. If you could include the names of the villages in the distant shots I could visit them on Google earth😊. Thankyou
