I went series 1 to 9. Am disappointed tbh. Looks the same, works similar. Just has a few extra features. Meh. Nothing really makes me think it was worth it

Sure it's nice to compare the new watch with last year's one but of course, the differences are going to be tiny. Tech in general doesn't advance as fast in a year anymore as it used to (as you say). On the other hand, I upgraded to the Series 9 from a (3-year old) SE and the upgrade is huge. Anyway, who (besides tech youtubers) upgrades their Apple watch every year?

I bought my first Apple Watch 8 series earlier this year and love it for sleep tracking and the fitness side and has Apple warranty till mid 2024 for piece of mind and only paid a few hundred pounds, no reviews ever talks about the second hand market, yes I do by new technology occasionally but the the second hand market is far the best way to save a ton on money, enjoyed watching as best place to review tec 😎😎😎😎😎

I would like you to know hat you find with the Apple Watch 9 and the battery. I have been using my watch the same as I used my Series 6 but what a difference there is with the battery. The battery is lasting about a day and 1/2 for me where I couldn’t go a. Whole day with the series 6. I would like to see what you find with the watch 9 series.

I upgraded from 1st gen SE, I’m glad I upgraded as I heard this year had the most to offer. Not interested in the Ultra, the standard is just fine for my light use

Still on the Series 5 and probably won't budge. I still get about a day and a half battery life even though it's 4 years old. Kudos to Apple for making devices that hold up well for so long.

I still use a series 4. Does everything I need.

I’m going back to the smaller watch, I used the Apple Watch ultra for a year and it was so heavy. So I’m looking forward to the new watch.

double tap works really well. I'm on 10.1 beta. i use siri a lot, especially with my hands full so i like that it works faster

Would you recommend the Ultra 2 or Series 9? I have the Series 7 right now and I’m no athlete so I don’t really using the watch mostly for sport tracking. I love the look of the ultra and heard that they have very good battery but can’t really decide

I’m lucky to live within 15 minutes of an Apple Store, so was able to try on all models and colours. I thought I wanted the darker colour, so was surprised when I preferred the Starlight. As for size, even the 45 looked too big on my wrist, so the Ultra looked like someone else’s.

I have the Series 7 as well and debating about debating about upgrading: did you find it was worth it? My series 7 is fine, only problem is the battery, I do need to top it up twice a day if I want to use it for sleep tracking.

I also upgraded from series 7 to series 9 for battery reasons. Also since I traded it in only cost $200 for a new model with fresh battery to boot. It is much brighter than series 7 and faster. I am very pleased since it is something I use all day long on my wrist. Definitely worth it!

Yeah I will keep the my 7 as well. Not enough improvements for me to upgrade.

I got the silicone loop strap for my series 9. Got them both yesterday and my wrist is red and itching today. :( New strap needed. I’ve gone from a series 3 to a 9. Big jump. :) loving it so far.

I’m going from nothing to a series 9 so should be a noticeable improvement in speed/features

I’m getting the 9 since I’ve never had an Apple Watch

Hi I have the series 8 but didn’t get gps, and now a wheelchair user, so I don’t know to trade it in an get the 9 as I want gps now as I’m more vulnerable getting my phone out 14 pro max in public a lot an can answer the watch phone easier by speaking (instead of tapping the call)really don’t know what to do…any advice I wish I’d gotten gps cellular last year but was my first AW 🙈advice help much appreciated please 🙏

I'll be going from a series 5 to a 9, so I'll def see a difference. I think we're at a point with watches/phones where you really don't need to upgrade but every 2-3 years. I personally just don't think the gains you get from 8 to 9 (or I[hone 14 to 15) are worth it. for the watch, the only reason I need to upgrade simply is the battery life is slowly going.

And that is the main difference between Ios and android and my reason for switching. I hated the fact that I had to change my phone or watch or tablet every year as android user. I can’t believe I was blind and stupid so long hating Apple for no reason 🙄

Going from a 5 to a 9 I’m so excited.

Series 9 feels more of an upgrade for people that have old watches. It doesn’t entice new users like me to buy the 9. It rather makes them doubt between the SE, series 8 or wait for the series X

Yep, year over year there will be incremental updates similar to iPhone; there can't be technological leaps and bounds -- or maybe there can be based on patents, but then things like battery life would really take a hit. I think if they haven't updated the SiP in a while, and don't plan on updating the chip like iPhone (which is also starting to see diminishing returns) then this is future-proofing for features that would come with future iterations. I held out with my Series 4 and ended up getting the 8 mainly due to the battery, not new features, but I really was hoping for a redesign. I know Ultra was kind of that redesign, but I couldn't justify the extra cost for a color scheme (orange, blech!) I didn't like, and 49mm would look ridiculous on my wrist. I'm hoping Series 10 celebrating that milestone we'll get something like iPhone X, but let's digest this year's models of all-things Apple!

I just upgraded from a series 4 to the 9 today. After updating the software to watch os 10, the double pinch does work. I’m even getting prompts to double pinch (ok for now to remind me, but hope it stops after a while).

The accessibility double-pinch has been around for ages. The "new" one coming out in Oct on the S9 chip is way more reliable (apparently)

Keep the current one. The ultra is the better watch in every way.

I do plan on Getting the Ultra 2 But I will save money for that and I will still keep my Ultra One!

I just bought a series 8 stainless steel that was reduced to nearly the same price as a series 9 aluminium. Looks classy as a formal wear accessory but also equally as nice with just a casual rubber band. Only thing I would miss is the series 9's brighter display but that's not a deal breaker

Don’t do either. The SE 1st gen is still supported. Keep it and you’ll get an even bigger upgrade later when it’s unsupported

I agree. I think the whole upgrade every year mentality is disappearing. I just got the Apple Watch 9 although I had the 7. Only because I need to be able to track my temperature whilst I sleep and 7 unfortunately doesn't offer that. Don't plan on upgrading not even in the next 3 year. Otherwise same as you I wouldn't recommend upgrade the differences are minuscule. ☺️

Upgraded from a Series 5 to a Series 9 and am very happy. I can definitely see speed, battery life, and brightness improvements and, even though it is small, I love that I have the option of using the keyboard for texting instead of writing out letters.

Are you kidding? I also upgraded from a series 5 and noticed almost zero difference in speed. The battery life and "brightness" is such an incremental upgrade. I'm really not sure what I was thinking just to appease my tech appetite... oi vey, Apple did us dirty!

I’m not sure what you use your Apple Watch for, but I acknowledge that I certainly got value for money with the Ultra 2 I just purchased almost 2 months ago. Speed or response from Siri is stunning, to say the least. And when dictating to Siri, it’s almost unbelievable watching the words appear on the screen with zero delay - and mind boggling accuracy. Apple did good - it’s a premium product and worth every penny. I wouldn’t settle for less.

you can use double pinch today it’s in accessibility not exactly the same as the one their advertising will be released later but effectively for daily use it’s like 95% the same thing

As someone who hated apple and was always using android devices i had keep changing them every year cause they are not build to last. Switched to apple first was mini 3 lasted 5 yrs my ipad 8gen is already 3 yrs no need to change it yet, my 13 pro max is already full 2 yrs going on third like I bought it yesterday and now I finally decided to buy apple watch 9series after already changing 4 android smart watches in 4 years. Overall after so many years hating them I finally have to admit that Apple and Ios are by far better and more durable then anything android ❤️

Due to newly surfaced heart-related issues, and associated safety concerns related to recent incidents of me collapsing, the Apple Watch’s Fall Detection, Emergency SOS, and its seamless compatibility with the iPhone is a must as of right now.

going to keep the 5 series. Bought it two years ago for £170 and It works fine and can’t see anything on the newer watches that is worthwhile. Unless they come out with a watch that has a battery that lasts a week can’t see anything I’d change. I’ll do my bit saving the planet rather than follow yearly tech upgrades that are minuscule.

I am waiting for my apple watch 9. It will be my first apple watch so I am pretty excited 😊

I’m on a 5 and still contemplating wether to upgrade, only reason is because Apple will give £75 trade in and the battery capacity at 80%

You don’t need to upgrade. The series 6 is still supported. But don’t waste your money on the stainless steel. Get the ultra 2. It’s so much better in EVERY WAY
