I marinate my tempeh with lime jiuce, coconut aminos and a tiny bit of maple syrup. Combine with tempeh and marinate for a few hours. I put it in a biwl with a lid and shake every once in awhile to make sure it is evenly coated.

After the fat withdrawal, tempeh is just too fatty tasting to me.

I am with you Ann. I also have a terrible time opening tempeh packages, especially those packages with a second sealed wrap surrounding the tempeh.

I just bought a block of tempeh yesterday to use with a different recipe, but now I think I am going to make this one instead. It looks wonderful!

Do you ever boil the tempeh as a block to remove bitterness before using it?

The book says 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. Is it wrong? Should it be 1 teaspoon?

someone told me that boiling the tempeh for 8 minutes helps with the bitterness. I'm not sure I can really tell the difference, especially when you dress it up with other ingredients.

Only thought about Tempeh. If it's a fermented food do you destroy all the friendly microbes by cooking? For sure I'll try the recipe since tempeh by itself seems to be quite bland.

It's not ideal. Tofu and tempeh are 30-40% fat. Your overall goal for each day should be to get around 10% of your calories from fat. No promises, but you could try making it with canned chickpeas.

Ladies - much easier opening strategy. Just slice through the middle of the package and push out each half block. Piece of cake.

Why don’t you have the recipe posted with this video? Looks like you posted a lot of info, even how to purchase the pan, but you don’t have the recipe posted. Odd. If you would have mentioned quantity of all ingredients in the 10 minute video that would have helped too, but you don’t mention them on all of the items.

With iPhones and the Internet at everyone’s fingertips anyone with lightning speed. Could Google the word umami, and find out what it means. Here is Wikipedia: Umami (/uːˈmɑːmi/ from Japanese: 旨味 Japanese pronunciation: [ɯmami]), or savoriness, is one of the five basic tastes.[1] It has been described as savory and is characteristic of broths and cooked meats. I’m in favor of people expanding their vocabulary.
