Day One app is awesome! I've been using it since it came out many years ago. I pay for the yearly subscription. I also have real notebooks that I journal in. I enjoy both digital and analog. You do great videos! Thanks for the comparison.

You nailed it so perfectly. I use Day One and have done so since 2014. Day One has had some mis-steps along the way, sure. When you said DO is "the gold standard of journaling", I completely agree.😊

It's hard to compete to be honest. Like you said, Day One has had a few mis steps but theyve also been around for a while now. Theyve had time to perfect the formula. Hopefully Apple, with time, can catch up but I dont see that happening any time soon haha.

Before I watch the video I will let you say I like the app because it is very simple and it is missing a lot of fancy feature. it would be nice if they add some more but I think that would be too complicated. Not hard to use but just too many things to think about and also free with the phone.

Apple wants you to overload your iCloud capacity, so you will need to pay a monthly subscription

Thanks for this review. I have been debating whether to use the Apple Journal app, I think this has confirmed it's not for me. The biggest turn off is that it'll eat into my iphone storage. I've journalled via good old paper and pen in the past but at times found this difficult as I have H-EDS and it's been too painful to write by hand. I fell out of the habit of journalling but did start using Google Docs last year for journalling. I'll check out your Day One videos. Although I'm unsure if an app or picking up journaling using Google Docs is the best option for me.

You don’t buy iCloud storage like a normal person? It’s literally dirt cheap

Looks to me like an app to share things to yourself.

I liked that even tho it’s free, you can upload up to 10 pictures, with the free version of Day One is not possible, I think that would also be a pro.

The problem with all digital services is that a privacy focused company today can be tomorrow's villain.

I agree. At the end of the day, they have all that data and can pretty much do as they please with it. This is just something I try to remind every one of when they start using digital products.

❤ Awesome review! I cannot agree more that in its current iteration, it is a glorified notes app. I am holding out hope that over time it will improve.

I totally agree! It has the potential to be really great but only if apple is willing to invest the time and resources required to get it there. and Thank you

I don’t think digital journaling is ever a good idea because you can’t look back at it in the future. If you get locked out of iCloud or they get rid of the app in the future all of your memories are gone.

Alternatively, you can loose your physical books as well. Two of my books got water spilled badly and I lost quite a lot of my stuff
