​@@nixx5490 Thhhiiisss the thinner you go, the less space for cooling. We already had this issue year ago. Unless there using graphite or some crazy cooling tech, it's gonna get hot or throttle alot. We'll see once they launch how m4 does on the ipad

Do you think Apple will abandon or compromise their heavily invested (capital and development resources from Apple as well as 3rd party) iPad OS and ecosystem. Even more important than that, Mac OS is NOT needed. The ONLY thing the iPad OS and these more powerful iPads need is an IOS version of Samsung Dex. Thats it! It would make the iPad a much better device and solve nearly everything issue most people have to even want a touch screen Mac OS.

Apple’s strategy is quite confusing. It feels like they just released the M3-powered MacBook, and now they’re launching the M4-powered iPad Pro. It seems a bit early for the M4 on the iPad. Moreover, the design of the iPad Pro is too thin. After switching to an OLED panel, the extra space should have been used to double the battery capacity, aligning better with the productivity-focused positioning of the Pro product line. The Air line should be the one focused on being lightweight and thin.

I have a feeling that M4 will be underclocked, and with the thin body it will thermally throttle out of the box... along with lack of battery improvements, this is not the upgrade they are acting like it is.

So I just did a comparison of my 2020 a12z with the m1 which is basically 55-60% while with the m2 is basically 50% or with the m3 is basically 45%. But - I don’t need that much power - I just need the display and the compatibility which is still given since we have a16/17 chips in iPhones. I’m good for two more years with my 2020.

No not really, they literally said it is as fast as the m2 using half of the power and is 4 times faster than the m2 for its gpu and 50% faster for its cpu. Did you watch the actual reveal.

I’m still using my I pad air 1st gen. Sure there’s some apps that won’t work. But KZread ,Facebook, messenger, safari and mail all still work fine.

I’m glad I just got the iPad Mini 6 since Amazon had dropped the price weeks before this no new mini announcement. And where are the new OLED screens for the iPad Air & Mini?

That iPad air looks lovely in 13 inch. More happy about the app upgrades for logic and fina cut than the processors. So i doubt those from M1 will even bother upgrading to m2.

A thinner Ipad is irrelevant as the case is thicker to prevent the thing from bending.

It’s true that nobody asked for a thinner iPad, but I’ve definitely wanted a lighter iPad, especially for the larger Pros. They’re too heavy to hold at an angle with 1 hand for long periods of time

I have my iPad pro in a zugucase, and it can go in various angles. I'd rather have double battery life rather than thinner size to be honest.

Finally got rid of the 64gb starting models. I was literally gonna get an iPad Air 256 just because they didn't have a base 128 and screw 64gb

I think I’m in the minority that is happy to hear the pro got thinner. I always kept my Pro in its keyboard case, and the older models were basically as thick/heavy as a full-fledged laptop. A thinner pro would be a lot easier to justify alongside a laptop for people that want the convenience and portability of an iPad most of the time but still need to use a full laptop for other tasks.

Yep, agreed. I also keep my Pro in the keyboard case, and though I really like it, it's very top-heavy and kind of unwieldy. So this M4 Pro might be worth it in that case, especially if you have an extra kidney lying around ('cause those prices are ridiculous).

@@mattmers Because I don’t like holding my iPad while I’m using it. If I want to watch a movie, review documents, or play games on it I’d rather it have a stand than have to hold it the entire time-especially if I’m using it ancillary to my primary work computer or laptop. For what it’s worth, I actually don’t carry both day-to-day because my iPad is too heavy in my bag with my laptop, but I want to carry both. I think this redesign is in part a recognition of the fact that people who use iPads often do so without wanting to hold it all the time, meaning the actual size of the device as-used has to compensate for the stand/keyboard. Clearly that isn’t what Apple originally intended with the early iPads, but I think an increasing number of users (especially enthusiasts/power users that want the pro models) are going to prefer their iPad to have a stand that’s simultaneously portable enough to justify carrying it with other equipment. The iPad-as-media device or iPad-as-computer thing hasn’t quite worked out for me, but I really enjoy using it alongside my computer and would likely do so more if it were just a bit lighter.

nope. Only USB-C pencil. And the new Pro pencil does not work with *any* of the older iPads Charging coil placement changed, and it would definitely not have been possible to create a charging puck (like available for the Gen 2 pencil on Aliexpress...), because that wouldn't create as many sales

The screen is the real deal here, doble layer OLED could be a game changer in color grading. If that technology makes it to the Display XDR with calibration support and SDI connections or even HDMI would be the best screen at its price.

I got it it has way much power then ever but where should i use it/? No adobe premere prp full accses, no full audio engine plugin’s available for ipad version whats the point of this much power, without using its half of protentional 😒

Great so no updated mini, cool. I’ll keep my mini and trade in my Mac air, and iPad 10 for that slim pro I guess. I like that Magic Keyboard (but damn they taxing, of course) and Logic Pro 2 was the best thing out of it all. I’m hype for that and trying it out on the new slim pro.

No, ipad 9 only. It had a 3.5 mm jack as well for music.

I don't personally like apple products but their presentations are the best in the industry and it isn't even close

Seems like Apple is slowly getting out of touch with the iPad Pro customer base. I sold my M1 iPad Pro as I was tired of the artificial constraints imposed by iPadOS and am fine with a M2 MacBook Air. I never really used the Apple Pencil much either so don't really miss it. What I want is a device in the iPad form factor that can dual boot both iPadOS and MacOS.

What is the point of M4? The limiting thing is iPadOS here.

OLED screens historically would burn in images into itself when using the same software on extended times same as OLED TV’s. Wonder what the warranty is on this concern.

I like it when they go- This is 10x faster compared to previous version. They should also say- Buy it, but this is gonna be 10X slower compared with the next one which we will probably launch in another 6 months 🙂

OLED screen & New M4 is going to be great with the upcoming future AAA games besides I hope they increase the Render resolution of many games

16 inch for a tablet seems too big for a tablet. At this point just get a Huion kamvas. I also wonder be upgrading. I still use the 2018 iPad and have never had the system limited by performance on procreate or CSP, so I think that the m4 chip is overkill
