    Great review thanks! I'd be interested in how you find the desktop realestate of a 6k display... I've got the 5k LG at the moment, and it is awesome, but more pixels gotta be better :)

    It’s so nice having a 6K display. The thing is Apple is very good at high DPI scaling so you can choose to have everything really small but I chose to have everything pretty big so it’s a bit more like the equivalent of a 3K monitor, but super high Rez and 32 inches.

    Thank you, for this nice review. In 2025, I plan to pick-up either a used or new Apple 32-inch XDR display to pair with my first M-1/ or M-2 "Mac Studio" or "mac mini" pro model desktop computer (smile...smile).

    Hi. I have the Pro Display XDR and love the brightness and tonal and color range. I'm using it with an iMac Pro. While I get beautiful images on the XDR, when I render and export from Davinci Resolve (paid version), my output file is dark and desaturated. I can display both the DaVinci Resolve viewer (looks great) and the output file on the XDR at the same time and the difference is night and day. I have tried every setting advocated on KZread channels and and exported over approx. 60 combinations of settings where I changed one item at a time. Still no luck. I even deliberately blew out the white point and it still output the same file not showing the blown-out whites. Have you tried to export HDR content mastered on the XDR using DaVinci Resolve with any success? Thanks.

    I have never used da Vinci resolve, I just use final cut pro and imovie, but I did ask AI for an answer and here's what it gave me, Project Settings: Ensure your color space is set to Rec.2020 ST2084 (PQ). Match your mastering nit level (likely 1000 in this case). macOS Display Settings: Confirm "Use Mac display color profiles for viewers" is checked in Resolve. Double-check your display calibrations. Export Settings: Select an HDR-compatible format like H.265 (Main 10 profile for XDR). Verify Color space and Gamma settings match your project. Ensure HDR metadata is embedded in the file. Community Knowledge: Have you checked the Blackmagic Design forums? Others using the same setup may have solutions (forum.blackmagicdesign.com/).

    Thank you very much for your prompt and well-researched reply. As one Pro Display XDR user to another, I was hoping you had a similar experience and had overcome it . There aren't too many XDR users posting to websites. While I have tried the settings that your AI search generated (I didn't think to even do an AI search), I plan to contact Blackmagic Design next week. There is something happening during rendering and export, but I have tried every setting already (there's only so many). Enjoy your weekend and thanks again. @@Lens_Addict

    Do you have any dead pixels? Have you had any issues with 'dirty screen effect' with local dimming zones?

  • @Lens_Addict

    @Lens_Addict

    No dead pixels, I did find that if there is a really dark scene or completely black screen and you move the mouse around, you can see the individual backlight led going on and off, but it’s not too distracting.

    @@Lens_Addict That's good. I pulled the trigger on one this year and ended up having 3 replacements all faulty. Dead pixels and muddy backlighting. Thinking of trying again in the new year with a PDXDR!

    @@Lens_Addict Yeah I think that's sensible. I hope they don't change the design though because it's so great! I might get a studio display in the meantime as I busted out an old 2004 Cinema Display, which feels almost Stone Age after the Pro Display XDR!
