When i was young there were no migrant workers and every kid could work if they wished. I'm in Lindsay now but there were tobacco farms apples potatoes lettuce and everything else under the sun. I worked tor free at my friend Glens because if you wanted to play work came first. His dad was into beef and pork and the size of those animals was amazing. He was a meticulous record keeper of all his animals especially the beef and prize bull Oscar. That animal was more like a dog than a bull and would always come running to see me and walk back to the barn with me.

That was a nice series of videos. We have machinery at orchards and juice producers but I actually never saw a modern packing facility for apples. Smart of those growers to combine their forces and cut costs to keep sustainability by making that huge investment.

I've always been fascinated by process machinery and how it's made and how it works. Some very smart people who designed and built all of that! I had no idea that apples emitted CO2? CO2 is not a pollutant, contrary to what the global warming nuts claim as plants cannot live without it. I also learned from work that activated charcoal removes oxygen from the air as we had rooms storing it for water treatment. Neat stuff there again Kate! Thank you for showing us this! :-)

Lady Kate, You are Amazing!!! You have not only really expanded your videos on other types of farming. But you do not just show one video of the product being harvested, but also follow its process for quality, packaging, price tagged, and transportation. I know I am old when my thoughts on harvesting and processing, especially apples are way behind. LOL!! Now when I go shopping and see the apples loose or bagged, I will know the process. Hello Kate, I love this video a lot ,when I was in high school I worked part-time in a huge market store in the produce department, I learned that there about 10 different kinds of apples ,it was fun displaying them by color, a lot of customers ask about their taste, so I was lucky because I got to eat each kind while working there. Hi Kate, when I was a kid our neighbours had a big commercial apple garden with different varieties of apples. The smell of apples in the storage was amazing, they are healthy and taste very good, also in apple pie, ... yummy. 😉 In Europe apple sauce is a huge market, not with the big pieces of apple in it but the fine version, you can eat it with almost anything you like.

Still watching, but as cool as the apple business is, my take away is an appreciation of the fact that Kate is being treated like an agribusiness person, not being talked down to or being treated as less capable. He’s not treating her any different than he’d treat Tucker Carlson. (My fav news person) A few of the gal’s I’ve flown with over the years have shared stories about Captain’s they’ve flown with being disrespectful. You can actually be very nice and still not give someone the respect they deserve. You are really sporting that hair net! I took the 3 big kids to Olive Garden when we were out shopping, and their was a hair in my soup, so I called the waitress over and informed her I wasn’t willing to pay extra for it, then I ate it. It caused a bit of a commotion. The kids told on me also. I act kind of normal when Aviva is around. Gotta keep up that dashing mysterious vibe for my bride. But they always tell on me. 🤤

I assume you were in the AF LT COL Tom . When the Soviets ended the Velvet Spring our leaders told us we might be going to western Europe. , I was promoted to Ssgt and made shelter chief. We frequently played war games. Our commander wanted them accurate with combat gear. He was a giant of a man who frightened some, but he liked me. He headed toward the shelter door as I said "No sir. The radiation level is too high. I will tell you when it is safe," The room grew quiet, worried about his reaction and then he laughed. I also try to act sort of normal, and so far it is working.

Kate, did they have any reduced oxygen storage rooms? They use those here in Washington to keep apples fresh year round. Great episode. Imagine the processing room at full capacity.

An interesting video Kate, thank you for sharing. Apples are also picked by hand here and transported via water baths. It is sensitive fruit, as mentioned in the video.
