Honestly, I’d like a thin AirTag card for my existing wallet. It’s about the only thing keeping me in the Tile ecosystem.

It seems like they could do this with anything that attaches via MagSafe - if the OS can play an animation when they attach it surely knows when it detaches too.

Works and fits seamlessly with the 13 mini. Absolutely great product in my opinion.

The Popsocket MagSafe wallet is way stronger than Apples own.. so recently upgraded to 13 Pro Max and maybe it’s because it’s much bigger but the wallet doesn’t magnetize as with the smaller phones. A bummer for me, I like Apples leather accessories and just got my leather case today. It’s always a must have.

I have this wallet with the find my and it works well with my otterbox pro xt case. The magnets are pretty good with this case I was swinging etc with it on my phone and no drops.

Thought I was the only one that keeps the wallet in my pocket and then attaching it to the phone whenever I feel like it's necessary

I love the way it feels

If someone finds it and attaches it to their iPhone 12/13, will I see a new “last seen” location based on where they are?

Just received the new apple wallet, personally I think the magnets are super strong, I don’t understand why people say it’s weak. It may be because I use a MagSafe silicon case but it’s perfect

Yeah I have the wallet on a Apple leather MagSafe case and it sticks really well. I’ve had no issues with it falling off

Once an actual AirTag wafer is inside the MagSafe wallet, I'll buy one. Only slightly better than useless to show last location detached, but cannot find it like an AirTag. Already have the first version of the wallet and get the buzz each time it's removed or attached.

Just bought one in Green to match my Apple case, however it says it‘s not an Aplle accessory. I‘m on the latest 15.1 beta 3.

For anyone looking into the wallets here’s my take. The wallet come in handy. Maximum 3 cards. I carry ID,Credit, and debit card. The wallets does move around a lot if you do not have a case (like me) but won’t move until you really apply force on it. I work for apple add tested the wallet on many cases and leather is the best in terms of how well it stays on. Without a case it’s alright. Overall I really like. Thought I was really stupid but I use it everyday and didn’t have a urge to buy a actual wallet.

@@noahs.1091 Yeah, my thinking at the time was that the iPhone can already tell when a 1st gen MagSafe wallet is connected and disconnected so in theory it could simply record the current location when it is disconnected - that doesn't require a hardware update. But something I didn't consider is that the iPhone probably cannot tell one wallet from another. I'm guessing the 2nd gen MagSafe wallets can be uniquely identified.

Hi 👋 I’m planning on buying the magsafe wallet (in 2022), but now seeing that one version of the wallet has that find my functionality and the other doesn’t. How can i make sure that the one I buy is the one capable of doing that notificacion for the wallet? If I go to the apple store online i see that the magsafe wallet has a red sign that says doesn’t include find my, so the does it mean that i need to find the article that doesn’t have that red tag?

Mine falls off constantly, it’s soo annoying and I lost it a few times, luckily only lost when I’m at home or at my farm and haven’t dropped unknowingly it while shopping or something. Maybe the issue is I have the 12 pro max ? I resorted to a standard case with built in wallet anyway. Meh. As for findmy functionality. I guess it’s the thought that counts and it’s better than nothing but it’s basically nothing as it doesn’t always work right, like I dropped it when walking up the trail on my farm and didn’t realize it till I got back. Only got a notification after I got back to the house that wallet was no longer with me, like?? Find my showed completely the wrong place basically right outside the front door. I retraced my steps and found it, but was no where near where it though I lost it.

Hi. Are the old type wallets and Iphone 13pro compatible?

Who places their phone in their pocket like that, especially when you have something attached to it? Learn, adjust, solved. Even without a MagSafe accessory, I put my phone in my pocket guiding the front edge in with my fingers. With the notification being triggered after a minute that helps with enough time to find it if you left it at a restaurant. Someone did mention bus/subway so that definitely would be too late. Adding AirTag functionality would add thickness and likely not worth the R&D to develop if IDs are eventually going on the phone, and credit cards already on the Wallet app.

I agree. I groaned so hard every time I saw a tech “reviewer” purposefully try to create controversy out of such a non-issue. Especially since I use my phone caseless, I slide my hand halfway into my pocket along with my phone. Never broken or even dropped a phone in 20 years, and never had the MagSafe Wallet detach unexpectedly from my iPhone.

I had one of these but I can only put 1 card cause its very hard and awkward when I am at the store in the line and me trying so hard trying get itnout

Can you clean the piece of food off your phone before recording?

Ummm no? From what I’ve heard it’s working like an AirTag, meaning it connects to all iPhones in it’s proximity via the Find My network. Am I wrong?

It only notifies you on the phone - not on the Apple Watch if you have one.

I never realized it was updated. I’ve just been on the minimalist push and stop dragging so much around. I was at the apple store and when I saw it had find my I grabbed the leather wallet and case instantly. That makes sense if it had this from the jump I would have bought it last year.

Would a replica work the same way?

I thought it might be able to charge my iPhone as well like magsafe batter pack before watching this video lol

It's just an NFC tag built in, then everything else is software.

Yes. I was able to use a hotel key card through the wallet.

i mean, if I lost it on a bus/plane/Uber etc it would be totally useless. But let’s suppose I loose it in a shop and notice only after I left. I’ll at least know where it is (if no one stole it). So yeah, not perfect but still pretty useful.

Can someone explain how the Find My works? Does it trigger a software response when detached from a phone, with iOS 15 or does it have some kind of sensor built into the wallet?

Your phone remembers its own location wherever the wallet last became detached. There’s no active tracking in the wallet itself once it’s been separated from the phone.

@@macrumors that’s what I thought. I work for Apple and didn’t know this lol. Thanks for clarifying. I guess Apple could have made it available for previous gen MagSafe wallets, but they wana use it as a selling feature for the new wallets.

I just wish they’d give my Apple Card Find My compatibility.

The opening in the wallet should be in the front bottom instead of the back. This way you don’t need to detach the wallet from the iPhone to access your cards.

So if anyone wants to hear a personal story, continue reading… I currently use an iPhone XR. My wallet needed replacing and I figured I’d get a MagSafe wallet so that I would have a wallet but it’d also be future proofed when I updated in the future. I chose the saddle brown color because it matches my saddle brown AirTag keychain and I like brown leather paired with silver/white (my color of choice because of its ubiquity in Apple’s products and I have OCD so matching is important). Then the new MagSafe wallet drops and there’s no Saddle Brown colorway. Which is fine, I’m not going to buy the new wallet because I need find my. However, I might in the future if it needs replacing or is lost. But I’ll worry about that in the future. I preorder iPhone 13 Pro (in silver obv) and look at cases. The plan was a white silicone case as the silicone grips the wallet the best. However for the first time to my knowledge, there is NO white case option. A bump in the plans for sure, but a clear case is also fine. HOWEVER, if you read the fine print, for whatever reason, the Find My MagSafe Wallet is incompatible with the clear case. Which doesn’t matter to me right now, but if I replace my wallet, I want to get my full $59 worth with all the features that come with it. That leaves only the leather cases. YET AGAIN, I’m in a pickle as Apple has removed Saddle Brown from their Leather iPhone cases as well. And I’m sure as hell not going to put two shades of brown leather on top of each other. So here’s my options: 1. Buy a colorful silicone case (my eye is on clover), but I’ll break my neutral look I’ve worked hard for. 2. Buy a clear case and hope I don’t lose or break my wallet in the phone’s lifetime (probably 2-3 years) 3. Buy a leather case that’s very different from brown leather so it doesn’t clash with saddle brown wallet. (Maybe midnight or sequoia green?) 4. Don’t buy a case and hope maybe they’ll release a white silicone case at some point. Thanks for listening to my Ted talk. And please don’t reply making fun of me and my first world problems. I know it’s not the end of the world, but my OCD can be very debilitating and I’ve had to take medication in the past for it. That is to say I don’t want pity comments either, just wanted to share my conundrum and frustration as itself is quite humorous.

@@calebcstr 4. I currently use iPhone 13 Pro Silver with original Saddle Brown MagSafe Wallet. Works great, would still buy White silicone case in a heartbeat when released tho

The find me is perfect, understandable that if you want more features it would need a battery.

I've never had that happen. Probably because I use my fingers to make sure it stays on the phone when putting it in my jeans pocket.

I wish apple had a feature when you attach the wallet you and press a button to lock it in place and the magnets get super strong and when you want to release it then you press unlock magnets.

Just get last year's version on sale and save some $

@@jbnelson yeah that’s the point. I would rather have a thicker wallet with that functionality than this. With its large footprint I’m sure the tech could be laid out in a flat enough design to keep it pretty thin and 2032 batteries are about as thick as the magnets in the back anyway.

And I tell you why its a big deal is because I lost my earlier wallet and had no clue where it fell off...at the beach.. in the car.. somewhere in my home... at least with the last known location, it gives a better chance to retrieve it.. then there is a notification to your apple watch / phone if its detached and still a last chance of some good samaritan finding it and deciding to call your phone... Thats 3 chances of preventing the loss of ur expensive wallet and the cards inside...in such a tiny piece of product.. whats not to like..?

I lost my wallet, with my atm card and license. I was hoping someone would return it, I asked the person where it shows located, but no luck. Not very happy with there product.

That’s because it has NFC chip and no battery.

Not worth the upgrade as it only is updating and lasting while attached to the phone and the phone already has find my as a feature.

Put phone in pocket upside down screen to leg. Your hand will prevent the wallet from coming off. When you take it out of your pocket then it will be facing right side up as well. Common sense

If you use the leather case by apple it has a stronger magnet yes it come fall off but come on no one wears that tight of jeans

Apple did increase the magnets and of course they would NOT address that because then they’d have to replace all of version 1 because of angry consumers.

I regret buying this. After using the wallet for about 3 months, I can confirm that the wallet frequently detaches from the phone. "Find" function is, literally, useless as you cant ping the wallet like a tag, nor is its location very accurate. I have lost the bloody thing 3 times in my house and its almost impossible to find. I will be purchasing another Wallaroo card holder that glues onto the back of the iPhone, like I use to have. At least it never fell off!

No cash , no deal. Fun fact , if it only carries cards, it’s called a “card case”. If it carries cash and cards, it’s called a “wallet case” .
