I loved this video. The average person doesn’t do the same type of performance tasks many of the developers are using for comparison. I do like real world uses. That is 80% of all people that own a computer. Great job.

Have a question to ask you, for a backup phone since my A53 will get 4 years of OS updates and 5 years of security, I want to know the cheapest z fold there is to get an experience like you did. Any suggestions?

My maxxed out spec M2 Air literally does everything I can think of without any problems. Once you have a M1 or M2 you shouldn't be looking to upgrade till at least M5 and beyond tbh or you're just falling for apples trap

@@David.AVelez M3 chip uses 3nm technology. Get the M3 Model, as it will help with future proofing better. The single core CPU speed difference is significant, plus the memory utilization improvements and the ray-tracing support are very helpful. Also M3 MacBook Air supports 2 external displays instead of 1 on M1/M2 MacBook Air models. I recommend that you get more than 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD to have a much more enjoyable experience.

What are the specs of both m2 and m3 MacBook you used for the test please ? Ram and ssd size seems to matter

It's fine. XCode doesn't really struggle with processing a large project with only M1 CPU. You DO need to customize it to have at least 16GB of RAM. More, if you have a larger project.

iPhone 15 Pro Max. I mentioned that I don’t plan on getting a MacBook anytime soon, but when I do I’ll definitely watch your videos to help me understand what’s best for me!

No matter if you get the M3 or the M2, you def need at least 16GB of RAM and 512 SSD.

@@michelletiger3903 256GB is very tight with just few things installed, especially after some time. And it is not practical to offload everything to SSD all the time and carry it. 512GB is just about right, and minimum.

Coming from a 2015 MacBook and barring budget constraints, you have the perfect reason to jump straight to the base M3. For future-proofing purposes, I wouldn't recommend you to look at the M1 because of the outdated body. I'd choose M3 over the M2 for the MacBook Air form factor just because it does certain "MacBook Air-synonymous" features better such as better battery life and faster SSD speeds (though as David said in this video, you won't even feel). But if you're in a tighter budget space, I think David's review between M2 and M3 will help you decide

I would say if you keep the Mac for that long go with with an M3.
