Apple M1 Chip Workaround for Toon Boom Harmony Premium

Фильм және анимация

My friend Xavier Green figured out how to get missing pieces of a rig to show up in the OpenGL (working Camera View) when using an Apple M1 Chip computer. At the time of this recording, Toon Boom Harmony is not officially M1 Chip compatible, but this workaround has helped my friends with M1 Chips.

This is such GOOD advise. And it's amazing to see how Harmony works with the Apple M1 Chip. Since Harmony 21 runs very fast itself, imagine how MORE faster it'll run on a new machine like that you was using. Let's just hope Toon Boom will make some compatible future updates for their software for the M1 Chips.

Yeah! I'm hoping they are able to make it more compatible at some point. I'm sure there's a lot of work involved.

This issue also seems to happen on a Windows 10 system. My team and I still don't know why exactly but this looks like a plausibile solution. Thank You. I would never thought to use the Matte Composite.

Michael, another thing to try is make sure that your OpenGL preferences are set to Enable Composite Pass through for all effects. Make sure to checkmark that. Sometimes a rig will look fine on one computer where they build the rig with that setting turned on and then it will look like weird things are happening for someone who is not using that setting.

Hi I normally run Toon Boom on an I7 intel core PC but I want to move over to an M1 Macbook, will it work with a 4K animator waccom tablet? Do you recommend it for animating? Cheere

Hi Matt, firstly, thanks so much for your tutorials, so useful! I’m having a problem with scripts though. I’m using Harmony 20 and the find and replace script isn’t working. I get errors whether I include or not the START and END part of the script. Also, for the copy pivot script, I unzipped it and placed it in the exact path toon boom wants it but the icon isn’t working and neither is the script. I’d appreciate it if you know what’s wrong! Thanks!

Matt, can you say a few words about the use of Bones in the latest version of TOON BOOM? In TOON BOOM 2020 they (Bones) work fine, but in TOON BOOM 2022 they don't work (at least for me). What's the matter here? I mean the INVERSE KINEMATIC tool, not the RIGIING TOOL - it was so convenient to do excellent IK with them - two clicks and that's it (I mean IK for LEGS, the Torso and Arms is easier to do with RIGGING TOOL).

Hello, please tell me, is it possible to make a custom control over the deformer point?

I'm not quite sure what you mean. You can pose something with deformer points and then select that node layer with it's pegs and deformer group and then make a master controller by choosing different keyframes you've posted on in the Timeline, yes. Is that what you were asking?
