I'm currently making a bunch of different granny squares and sewing them into a cardigan. You could also do a blanket or you could use them for coasters or kitchen towels.

Do you have a written pattern for this?

Wait, I have never seen anyone half double crochet like that before. Is that how you're supposed to?? I thought it was insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over, pull through, yarn over, pull through one, and then yarn over, pull through two.
