Thanks, that was an excellent, and practical overview. Not enough like this on KZread. I don't have anything against the typical 13y/o reviewer's cracking voice, it's their overall delivery. The common person that can read can setup any router on a web interface. Although I am an Apple fan boy I consider DD-WRT to be the ultimate in control on a compatible router. With that said I can agree that the Time Capsule is a fantastic product from my experience.

okey do I have to have a ethernet cable to it or can I conect it to my wifi?

I had 2 apple time capsules and both died. Heat is what kills these things and they do get HOT. I highly recommend that you do a regular backup of the time capsule to another external device. Good Luck!

If you set it up with AirPort Utility you should be able to setup the disk as well.

I just spent the big bucks on the 3TB model. So far it's working and was easy to set-up, but I'm a little confused about why I would need to use it to create another WiFi network? I already have a WiFi network and I have the time capsule connected to my Ethernet network, which is faster and more secure. Any idea why or if I would need to use WiFi with this time capsule, either as part of my existing WiFi network or as an additional separate network? Thanks.

yes you can. use something called TimeMachineEditor, google it

How to access files within time capsule?

I do not understand how to use the Time Capsule. My Mac is maxed out in memory. I want to be able to store information on the Time Capsule so I can free up space on my Mac. I also want to be able to to retrieve the stored information at a later date. I am so afraid to delete files on my Mac for fear that when the automatic back ups take place it will only save what is remaining and previous data will be erased. Can you help me understand how this works.

Thanks for the review. Just bought one. Yet to open and set it up. Now I'm excited. One question for you. Have you noticed any interference from other radio devices? Sometimes when we turn our baby monitor on it drastically cuts down the wifi signal. Like I said this is the case with our soon to be replaced old linksys router.

I am still not sure. Does it mean I can actually connect my internet cable directly to Time Capsule without connecting to my router? Do I have to connect my laptop to Time Capsule with the cable? I would prefer to connect it wireless.

The Time Capsule is a router by itself, you simply need your mac to be connected to the time machine's wifi (your home wifi if you use it as your router as well, as you should). No need to connect physically to the time capsule to backup your laptop.

by the way i dont wan't to use for wifi or router.. i prefer as usb to usb chord as external drive only? without WAN ports? is it possible? thanks

My wife has been bugging me about buying a time capsule for the past 2 months for her Macbook Air and my Pro; for back up reasons. Never knew you could use it as a wifi router though. My only concern now is can the PS3 connect to it if I use the time capsule as the primary router in the house.

Can you not set up the Time Capsule to only back up weekly...? Seems in the menu it doesn't give you an option... I'm using a MacBook, not a PC...

i am wanting to get a Time Capsule so i can move my massive iTunes library on to it instead of it all being on my MacBook and for using it as my Time Machine back ups. +Guanaco Selvado it is the same as hard wire setup for a router, but for the time capsule you have to connect to the shared drive you setup through AirPort Utility. I no longer have a time capsule, so I cannot do a video on it, I am sorry.

If I reset to factory settings, will my data be lost. I cannot detect it on my HP All In One PC. I downloaded Airport Utility and when I opened it up, it immediately found the TC, but when I updated it, it could not find it.

☠️BLACK BARON☠️ It takes around 30 seconds to send a 100Mb printer spooler file over my Airport Network with HOPS to my printer. Why does it take so long for backing up data on a Time Capsule with one HOP?

Nice video! Congrats! However I do not recommend anybody to waste money with this crap. Every week a have to install and set up time capsule again.
