Ive had major issues with Altra lone peak zero drop shoes. Something about the zero drop caused me to have ankle pain which I self diagnosed as sinus tarsai syndrome. Ive never had ankle problems in thousands of miles of hiking until wearing the altras. Switching shoes was the answer. The pain subsided quickly after switching shoes. Hope you get it figured out.

If you are doing more damage, you will potentially not be able to finish. Better to take the rest days and hopefully get back to enjoying the trail. Enjoying the trail and the time with your son is far more important than the title "thru hiker' But being a type A myself, I do get it.

I was just watching someone else's video and they talked about how they changed their diet up to more high fat less carbs and how that totally helped his tendonitis.

I am sure it was a hard choice but think you made the right decision. You have to take care of yourself in order to be there for others. Plus it will give Captain and ''Sherpa Will' time to create some memories on the hike . Take care and hope the rest and ICE helps you to heal. Hugs.

Sorry you ate hurting again. I followed a hiker on AT last year and she had your same problem. She had to end up getting off trail. She wasn't able to get off trail and rest a few days. Hope you feel better. Safe travels.

If you go to their main page on youtube there are tabs at the top. One of them is Community. It is where they can leave messages for us in real time. Hope this helps.
