This is a great interview. Always liked Rich. He has a hysterical way of telling his stories .Shane would be great as a commentator.

I'm 61 and a fan of both these guys. I met Tommy Rich at a nightclub in my hometown of Ironton, Ohio the night before a match in Ironton. He was very nice to talk to and we drank a beer together. Tommy was the biggest name on cable tv in the late 70s and early 80s. Georgia Championship Wrestling was on fire.

These interviews are always great. Peer-to-peer format is original and refreshing. Nobody better than Shane to do it. He's an excellent listener and knows when to interject with comments and when to move on to the next question.

I have loved Tommy Rich since the magazine days of wrestling. It's good he seem to be well and can have fun talking wrestling. I never really been a Shane Douglas fan but I really enjoyed this video. I don't watch wrestling but it's funny how most wrestlers know each other. I didn't know they worked for the same promotion before. I wasn't a big ECW fan when I did watch wrestling.

Tony Atlas was saying how Tommy Rich didn't pay his dues like him hehe. His fingers or hands must have or he worked on the Railroads hehe. Maybe if he was missing a few digits it would mean he has. Amazing stuff as guy reminds me of Baumhauser when he is speaking from King of The Hill. I can't grasp why Sabu had wanted to have him speak for him in WCW. I can't imagine that would have worked out well at all. Ronin Warriors this Anime had Armor of Wildfire which I would always related to. I'd have like endocrine issues where body got really hot or cold probably from having growths on my thyroid even now heh. Meeting Sheik or Wrestling Terry Funk. I always liked him even wanted to win over Flair and Hogan. Great Stories and Stuff ;).

Phil Hickerson looked like a mean bus driver jonesing for a beer but he was suprisingly lightfooted and smooth in the ring . He was like a bigger , potbellied Dennis Condrey .

Funny enough Hickerson would have his biggest and most successful angle teaming with the before mentioned Dennis Condrey..As the Bicentennial Kings in 1976, they would be major players throughout the southern territories for about 3 years..Then Hickerson would play a mid card role with the occasional push to main event in Lawlers CWA for the remainder of his career..

Please find the Ole Anderson shoot interview where he debated the Abdullah vs Tommy Rich angle. Jim Barnett didn't believe Tommy Rich as a new baby face could stay popular after the Ole Anderson booked beatings he received from Abdullah. Ole correctly insisted that they showcase Tommy's heart over his ability

The Forgotten NWA World Heavyweight Wrestling Champion ! The NWA was dominated by Flair and Race . People do not think about the many great one time champions , like Rich , Both Funks , Steamboat and Garvin !

The Funks especially Dory Jr. Where hardly throw away champs..It was just prior to the major public zeitgeist that wrestling would become in the 80's...Rich could legitimately lay claim to potentially being the initial jump point for that growing zeitgeist..

I grew up WATCHING wrestling in the 80s . But I wouldve loved to be in the lockr room around those legends . I wrestled in the mid 2000s and there wasnt nobody to tell me much . I basically got shit trained for 1200 bucks , to wrestle a few years . I loved it and picked stuff up a long the way . But nothing like the knowledge they had to have acquired around guys they mentioned .

I made my parents buy me that VHS of the Lawler vs. Idol hair match in the cage with Rich hiding underneath and it was damn near 60 bucks in the 80s !!!! For a VHS tape ! HAHAHA ! I wore that thing out though ! I had it until the early 2000s before it finally died on me

Damn … I thought it was bad that I got my parents to pay $39.95 to order the Survivor Series ‘95 VHS from an ad in WWF magazine. Tommy talked about that lawler vs idol match being in 1977, but wasn’t it closer to 87?

@@NLaBarThe entire match is a available on KZread.. It would have to have been in the mid eighties, as Tommy's run with the NWA title had already occurred..

He could sell out anywhere down there after that

Shane is kinda clueless the more i listen to him..when he 1st started he was like Billy Travis or Tim Horner..Shane somehow got very lucky to make it in ECW..he was never a great wrestler..but in this video he keeps talking good about Flair...well the real difference between Flair and Rich was that Rich could wrestle..he knew many moves and could take a beating but Flair actually only knew maybe 4 or 5 moves and was kinda a pussy lol...Tommy has had a great and wonderful life...Beautiful kids...Beautiful Wife...still wrestles because he is great at it and truly loves it and I'm so glad Tommy is and has always been my favorite wrestler since i was 5 or 6 years old lol...God Bless you Tommy and ty Shane for trying lol
