Yup, basically though he also has the thrysus staff which was used to great effect during the gigantomachy, control over vines and madness too. All of which could have been used here but decided not to, most just regard him as the party God of wine rather than the insane God of madness and resurrection that he really was in the myths.

I wouldn't be surprised if Apollo was one of Zeus,s favorite children along with Athena. if anyone deserved to inherit the throne in the event Zeus dies, it has to be Apollo. and it makes sense honestly. Apollo already has a ton of experience ruling the sky ( to an extent ) and he,s close enough to his father where he,s willing to face hera,s wrath to cover for Zeus, when not even Ares is willing to do it. Hades might be looked at more favorably because of his history of hospitality and him being the oldest, but Apollo might be one of the few Gods that would actually be qualified if Hades declined.

He's also literally the God of Plagues like c'mon? He's more remembered as the pretty boy musician rather than all the other stuff he did. There was a theory his name (Apollon) came from the greek word for destroyer or healer so yes.

Apollo the God of Music, poetry, art, prophecy, truth, plague, archery, healing, sun and light. Helios is the titan and first God of the sun. Apollo bow is half lyre and half bow. A golden bow. His twin sister was apart of the Moon Goddesses like Luna but she was also the Goddess of the hunt, wild animals, vegetation, chastity and childbirth. Artemis also had bow which was silver

Apollo in myths have thrown hands with Heracles and defeated Hermes in a race, the dude was Op and this doesn't make him justice

He's always been one of my favorite Greek god along with Hades, Athena, Hermes, Artemis and Hephaestus

Well, yeah. When you drive a chariot that literally pulls the sun across the sky, you're bound to get a pretty sweet tan. Edit: Depending on research sources, the Sun God was more likely the titan Helios, but Apollo might've played some role involving the sun, I don't know. The details are murky. And unless someone finds a better primary source, no one will know for certain.

This Apollo looks and acts like a god of luxury (and excess), a Venusian trait. The character of Hermes, in this show, is what Apollo should haven been - an embodiment of the Golden Mean.

Honestly I am really disappointed with this series. It made the Gods look like total pushovers. Apollo gets his ass kicked stupidly often and does not even use his famous bow. He’s supposed to be the damn Sun/Light itself but all he can manage to do is shoot some fireballs out of his hands every now and then and it seems like without his chariot he’s basically crippled.

@@PhyreI3ird Because he’s the God of the Sun, one of the most powerful things to exist. Even Zeus never went out of his way to piss off Helios in the myths because he knew it wouldn’t be worth it. Cool Ares is the God of War I know, but that doesn’t explain why Apollo is just so bad at fighting. Like his sister, he is a hunter and a fighter. He isn’t just some pretty face, he’s actually got some power behind his punches. In this anime they seem to have just gone with handsome and nothing else. By rights he should have at least given Ares a real struggle but it honestly felt like he was more akin to an annoying fly. Also he didn’t just get his ass kicked by Ares, he got his ass kicked by the Giants too. It was pretty pathetic. One giant didn’t even have to do much, it basically just yanked him off his chariot via telekinesis and that was him out of the battle instantly. The thing that makes it even weirder is the knowledge that these guys somehow defeated the Titans.

Thats not actually how the greeks did it. While it was acceptable for powerful men to take male play mates, it was only acceptable in a kind of disturbing ultra-masculine way which probably involved alot of abuse regarding lower class boys. ​@@gabrielhughes8221 No, thats a bunch of modern revisionism. It was true that certain soldiers would do that and people would not question it because they were always big and militarily feared. It was only considered okay for the "top", the guy who was getting railed would more oftent han not be small, weak, have a low social status, and he likely would not consent. It was a very bully vs victim sort of thing which was certainly not considered normal, just common since these power dynamics were common. They did NOT for a single second believe that love had anything to do with it, they saw it as strictly sexual, violently so. They did not for a moment see straight and gay reltionships as the same, especially since gay relationships where people lived together as a couple did not exist and was socially forbidden. The closest you can get is to sexual slavery which some powerful figures did engage in. And the Olympics were not performed naked because they were gay... It was performed naked to make sure that no women participated... Who have taught you this false revisionist version of history?
