This tall guy who grabbed the finisher's leg... He was a man of a big heart and a pure soul. It was shown at the beginning of the film how his whole native village was laughing at him. Nevertheless, knowing that he would die anyway, he still helped his fellow tribesman. And because of this, his death is ten times more tragic.

True! The actor playing the character is a Canadian Native American. I read an interview with him years ago and the guy mentioned many people were asking him about the animal testicles he eats at the beginning of the movie. They were made of rubber. :P

This scene is so sad and adrenaline pumping at the same time. I remember I was 20 when this came out. I love it today just as much as I loved it back then. It was so creative and ahead of its time. An eternal classic!

@@digiblak997 On that front I don't disagree.... I was highly entertained by the movie. I just detest pointless historical inaccuracy. Whether the movie is "good" or not, is an opinion. I liked it. I'm sure there are many that don't. It would have been even better if they just used real history, no change to the story needed. Just a "reality check".

This movie is so epic!!! The fight and determination of the main character is incredible!!!!

I came across Apocalypto by accident channel-surfing one night and I was absolutely stunned by the imagery. One of those movies that make you realise just how average and unoriginal most movies are. Brilliant.

A lot of these guys never acted before, it just goes to show what a tremendous director Mel Gibson is.

I tend to agree with you........one night I decided to give this a try and was EXTREMELY pleasantly surprised and I didn't fall asleep on it.........although, its somewhat predictable, its still a pretty darn good watch.......I agree, if you haven't watched definitely give it a go!

Brilliant movie …! Everything …..the plot, the characters, the script, acting, cinematography, score, costumes, set design …..All 1st class.

I finished the movie about 10 minutes ago and...I was like "What, Mel made this masterpiece?!" 😂 This was intense, gruesome (I closed my eyes all the time, it was too graphic) and touching. I have never seen a movie like this before...it actually felt so real for some reason. One of the most well made movies ever, amazing actors. There will be no need for a remake for this one because it felt like this was made in 2020 or something. Amazing. Good job Mel Gibson!

It really shouldn't be that hard to get details right if you're going to create a movie set in an historical time. Not enough people will go to "learn more". Most will just take this as "fact". Great movie by Mel Gibson, he nailed It close to the way the aztecas ruled North América AND central América.The movie focused on any of the tribes in this case the mayans being ruled by the Aztecas which was the Romans of their Time.

When you drink water and remember it's a liquid, you know it's wet

When I first saw this movie, it was on Satellite. This was the scene it was on, and I couldn't stop watching. I was glued to the screen. I later watched the entire movie, and now I own the DVD. It was SO satisfying when all of the crazy bad guys got what they had coming. Lots of great actors.

sad thing is that movies like this one are so rare... we are waiting and will be waiting for a long time for something special like Apocalypto...

One of my favorite films of all time. It's aged beautifully and you feel like you are running through the forest with Jaguar Paw. The ending will give you chills.

The movie got me engaged from the beginning until the end and I still watch it over whenever, it's brilliant

This scene is very close to how I escaped from a girlfriend who was after my welfare check in South Central. XLNT job Mel! The making of this movie is even better.

I agree but the brutality (and historical era) reflects the Aztecs more. I’m assuming Gibson just really liked the Mayan language because Aztecs were the ones who were at their height in the late 1400’s and early 1500’s. The Last Duel was more accurate because it’s based off an actual historical book while The Northman is just Viking Hamlet.

That scene after he takes the spear out of his body and the other spear comes flying into the picture is so intense. Probably cgi, but what an incredible shot.

@@JRcalifornia You need to read about the Spanish invasions because they were FAR from boring. Some of the most horrible chapters of human history, but very interesting to read about. Especially Cortez.

I find ancient American weapons more scary than any gun or steel blade. They're so crude and blunt, I can't imagine the sort of pain they would have caused.

Great film.Can watch without subtitles and still understand what is happening while simultaneously creating your own dialog,thanks to the director.

If only Rickon had watched this movie........

I still remember the movie...it is one of the most wonderful and beautiful movies in my memory

Phenomenal scene ...The look in the guy's face when he noticed his son got Toe-Tagged and sent to the freezer 🤣

This realistic and frightening section in this movie, is more adrenaline pumping and fear inducing than any other film I have seen since. Totally brilliant acting and production!

Great movie--a lot of true bravery for self, country (people), family, honor. This movie had so many selfless many acts of heroism. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.

Had mel Gibson not had those drinks...this would have won an Oscar

5:00 Turing point of one of the greatest underated movie ever made. If only they had run *zizag* , most of the would have been alive or just mearly injured instead of the hero barely making it out alive. That's why using the brain is important.

Mixed blood American Indian actor Max Trujillo made a great bad ass warrior chief in this movie. In the movie. that was his character's son that was dying in his arms so the ensuing chase was very personal to the chief.

This is a must own kind of movie. An unsung little gem.

3:55 I love how he did that, he watched them run long enough and figured out their pattern and knew exactly where he’d be after firing his arrow!

I went into this movie without ever seeing a trailer or knowing anything about it. It was the second movie I had seen that day. We had paid for the first one which I can’t even remember what it was and snuck into this one from the beginning. It really surprised us and was amazing

I loved this movie. Very hard at times but equally memorable.

I have to say, regardless of what some might think, this to me, is one of the best movies I've ever seen and I would highly recommend it to anyone....it has a lot of stuff going on it and its somewhat historical although it is fiction, nevertheless, its got many interesting socioeconomic themes that occurred between tribes.......

Underestimated! one of the greatest movies ever

This movie gives me so much motivation when I'm doing martial arts.
