Following Apex Legends' shadow launch in 2019 the game garnered an audience that had grown tired of PUBG's slower play style. Third parties, fourth parties, hot dropping, had all been accepted as Apex's game design favored fun over balance. Content produced would often depict the fun of that gameplay from streamers such as ShivFPS. Apex has since found itself in an identity crises, stuck between casual, ranked, and eSports. But that has not stopped its player count or brand as Apex Legends is about to get its own TV series.
Coming back to Apex Legends I've always found myself alienated from the rest of the online discourse. While waiting for King's Canyon to come back, there are many more players waiting for World's Edge and the destruction of its hot spots in an attempt to prevent hot dropping. Hot dropping is an issue but the bigger issue is that players rather get thrown back in the lobby than loot in the early game.
