@@acaringtouch1131 well being in the Bible belt there are so many here along with different religions. I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses so we go to a local Kingdom Hall. I am not too familiar with other churches. I have known people to go to Life Church around here and say they like it. Maybe someone else that lives here will see your comment and give you some insight on their specific church.

One of the things I worry about is diversity. Being from Washington state I'm not use to not being around people from a variety of backgrounds. And knowing that it's a predominantly white population. Is racist an issue? Me being white and my girlfriend being indian I'm worried about that being a factor i may have to turn down a job offer if that's the case.

@@IntriguedwithTyler you are moving to oklahoma city or a smaller town here? Oklahoma city is very diverse compared to other parts of oklahoma. There are mixed couples everywhere and it doesn't seem to be an issue. (At least not from what I see as an 'outsider looking in') you should not have a problem in my opinion. Have you ever visited before?

I'd go with the first one. I like you guy two.

Put that $1450.00 per month on a home mortgage. A home is your BEST tax shelter, with a starter home resale will mean you will be getting money back as well. When I resold my first home, my profits @ closing were over $23K. The good news right now is, it's a SELLER'S market!

Pets are usually $250-400 one time deposit and then they make you pay pet rent usually $20-$25 per month.

Most apartments around OKC require 3x's the amount of rent for your income and its before taxes, so if a place is $500 you need to make $1500 before tax.They also usually do criminal background checks and credit checks. They aren't really looking for scores per se, they are looking for bankruptcies/judgments against you. One last thing is the rental history, they almost always check that and will call your last landlord.

Hmmm month to month starting out, I haven't really seen any. I will be on the lookout if I find something though. Usually they will do shorter term contracts but your rent will be higher. Some contracts start as low as 6months. After your contract is up you will usually have the option to go month to month or start another contract.

I have no idea why this popped up in my feed, but I’ll be subbing. For anyone looking at this thinking about moving, you can get a lot more for the same price. I live in NW OKC. My house is 4 bed 3.5 bath, 2600 square feet on about half an acre. My mortgage, home insurance, electric, water, and gas bills equal about the cost of one of these apartments. If you don’t just have to live down town it is pretty inexpensive to live well in OKC.

You guys are adorable! I’m an older lady looking at walkable areas with downtown high rises in other cities, and the rents seem reasonable there. My main concern is getting groceries; I guess delivery?

Thank you! You will definitely have to do delivery if you don't plan on getting a car. We did have a small store in Deep Deuce that had everything you would need. It was very small though so they couldn't keep up with the cost of goods so they shut down. There is a new store in Midtown called The Market at Commonplace. I haven't been in there yet but I've heard good things about it. The closest grocery store is Homeland and that is about 5-8min drive depending where you are at or a 25min walk. For grocery delivery we have Instacart and Shipt available

Oooh we did a downtown apartment tour one year and was able to check out the first two. We lovedddd them! The park harvey had a really cool gym in their basement and the montgomery had such nice large windows. It was pretty cool, they said it was an old Montgomery Ward building before they renovated.

Nice overview. I'll be relocating to OKC in a few weeks and am having a hard time finding a safe, modern, pet friendly apartment anywhere in and around the city. Could you share the name of the one in film row or any others you suggest? Thanks!

Thanks! The apartments in film row are called West Village. When we went to tour it was super secure. Had to get through a few doors with a keypass, an elevator with a keypass and finally the apartments. The other in deep deuce was called Deep Deuce at Bricktown but weren't as secure. And it really depends on your budget and side of town you want to live. If you have a higher budget check out Argon located in nw okc, if you want downtown living check out the Montgomery, steelyard, Lift. In norman, Terra at University North Park are really nice. These are all fairly new except Montgomery it's an old building but renovated very nicely. I also believe they are all pet friendly. When we went to tour these places they all were secure as well. I think the Montgomery even has a doorman or concierge services if I remember correctly 🤔

The city is expensive compared to everywhere else in the state, I pay less than $1500 for my mortgage with tax and insurance.

Yes! Living on the outskirts of the city have major housing benefits! Super cheap with plenty of land and usually bigger housing for your buck!

Yes most apartments around here are pet friendly but usually they tack on a hefty pet deposit (around $250-$400 one time) and pet rent ($20-$30 a month) per pet. The hospitals are good around here the most popular are OU Medical, Integris, and Mercy. I have personally only had to go to Integris just a couple times and each experience was good. The waiting time for the emergency room wasn't too long at all.

Which complexes are these? I just moved to OKC literally yesterday and my partner and I are going out to view apartments today and tomorrow!

It really depends on your renting history. If you have been a good tenant in the past, you shouldn't have a problem. Most apartments would like for you to make about 3× you rent payment, something to consider.

We do have an area downtown where the homeless population is very prevalent because the city rescue mission and homeless alliance is down there. Those areas are by the bus station, under the bridge by western, mainly those areas.
