What stops you from just kicking a regular door chain and walking in? Regular door chains are found in every hardware store, Walmart, target and many others stores in the country. They can be bypassed with one kick. We are a huge improvement. What I am starting to see in many of the comments is the misinterpretation of this lock. Door chains are supposed to be used for answering the door. This ALSO has a flip-lock to secure the door when it is closed. For someone to come with a screwdriver seems somewhat far-fetched in the idea that you are standing at the door while they are trying to unscrew two screws. Even if this were the case, it would still give you time to A. Call 911 B. Grab a defensive weapon or C. go to a safer place. You also have the option of going to your local hardware store and “upgrading” the lock by adding security screws. The problem with existing door chains is that with one kick, the perpetrator would be inside your house in two seconds.
