Apartment Routes Are Every Amazon Drivers Worst Nightmare
Amazon has made some new policies about delivering to apartments. Instead of dumping packages at a mailroom, we must now deliver door to door at apartments. This is how amazon corporate wants us to deliver to apartments now.

The Amazon driver who used to do my route would leave the packages on the sidewalk of a very busy urban area. My building is 25 stories but we have a mail room, elevators, and the security guard would make it so that only the delivery person could use one of the elevators. I never understood it to this day 😭
Bro that's fucked up. I live in a 4 story apartment and now I'm just gonna have all my packages sent to a nearby amazon locker, sure I have to go around the block to get my stuff but seeing how it'd help you guys makes it worth.

If the Flex app doesn't prompt you to call (i.e. when you can't deliver for whatever reason), no reason to call. Customer instructions are irrelevant. Customer wanted me to deliver to their back porch I can't see? Nah, front door it is. As long as you weren't irresponsible with the package, not following customer instructions can never become a major issue for you.
Why we can't deliver them to the leasing office is beyond me that way the customers package can't be stolen and staff is there with security cameras inside its a win win for everyone

The door-to-door in an apartment building is silly. Packages can easily be stolen from a customer's front door as it could be stolen from a mailroom. If there was a big push for fewer ripped-off packages then Amazon would be pushing for more lockers at apartment complexes OR require apartment dwellers to have the packages delivered to Hub lockers.
@David_Quinn_Photography

exactly if they cared they would invest in more lockers. small mail room can have a small locker just have less deliveries to each location every day if the lockers are not big enough less more often is not bad.

I don’t even bother going to the apartment door . YOU value your package not me , For minimum wage I’m doing what the job requirement says drop it off . everything after drop off is your business .
My nursery routes consist nothing but apartments its so annoying, I just lobby dump by the mailboxes.It’s what I did in ups , and doormen don’t make the job any easier when they don’t wanna take anything.
I'm not into delivering buisness or anything, but I think apartments need to have a secured way of delivering packages rather than just asking the courier put it next to their door (where it can easily be stolen just like it would be from a regular mailroom). All companies need to understand that in here quantity of packages delivered a day IS infact quality. The faster and more careful the couriers are, the better overall they will do and the company itself will have better reputation overall.
I hated those ghetto highland ave East Orange apartments! Central Ave was especially ratchet!
It's BS delivering to apartment doors when most are locked down like fort Knox and the unlock codes provided never work, takes forever so I leave them ALL with the mailroom or someone up front

I think apartments just need to have special delivery boxes for packages, like the amazon locker but for more than just Amazon. I see packages in front of people's doors all the time at my complex and I wonder what is stopping people from just stealing them. We have no cameras in the hallways and we aren't allowed to install devices outside of the apartment.

Yeah Amazon lockers are good but 3th party lockers not so good because you have to put every apt number for the lockers one time I had 2 full tots and it took me over an hour putting in numbers 🙄
Apartment and condominiums delivery is the worst. The best trick is to go from top to bottom and snake down using stairs. Check your parcel first before goind up bc going back up again sucks 😂. I had a few times delivered an area with nearly 100, 5 floors apartments with no elevator and had to deliver 1-2 parcels per apartment. The literally worst parcel to deliver is cat litter. 😂😂😂
@Shelfster
10 ай бұрын
Cat litter is the absolute worst. like 2 weeks ago I had almost 5 totes and 15 overflow for a single apartment. luckily it had an elevator but my dolly can only haul 2 totes and a few overflow
As a UPS Driver I leave them in lobby or mailroom. I dont care cant spend 15-20 mins on a single stop. Many times I get into arguments with stupid security guards, building managers
They're grouping up 4 different apartment buildings where I'm at. Imagine what I deal with trying to get buzzed into each and wasting time.
My mentality is this, packages can just as easily be stolen from in front of an apartment door as they can from a mailroom, which is why I just leave em there. My average route size is 170-185, and it's usually the same area averaging 10-30 apartment stops along with a ton of business. So I'm definitely not a fan, I mean I see UPS and FedEx leaving them at the entryway to the buildings, why can't we?
It's mad BS when they're picky about delivering to doors. Yesterday I had 300 packages and 48 stops and they were telling me to hurry up but also follow delivering instructions. And I'm getting a bad score from having to leave it in mailroom so I can finish my route. So I'm either sacrificing time or getting some ppl mad cuz they get mad I don't leave their packages at their apartment door when they aren't even home 😑🤦♀️ might switch over to be the one packing the totes 😂
@Boarkiller

I've worked for amazon as a delivery driver for a few years flex and DSP, I don't do it anymore, but it's almost been like that to deliver to the door ever since, but I do live in AZ. Yes, some apartments have Amazon locker but fedex/ups/usps use them as well, so they get full pretty quick. Had it happened multiple times where I had a locker delivery for 50 packages and its full, so they make you deliver straight to the door. But we are never allowed to package dump to a mailroom. If Amazon found out, then they would deactivate you.
@HandleNameIsStupid
11 ай бұрын
I mean fine...but they should recognize the speed of delivery will suffer tremendously as a result...no one should run for this job just increases the risk of injury which ultimately makes this even slower.
What i think is funny is me putting the package at someones door isnt gonna stop someone from swiping the package. Its can still be stolen by anyone in the building. And theres always random people walking around.
I'm an Amazon delivery driver. My manager once told one of my co-workers that a driver who's 1st 5 stops are apartment buildings should be ahead of someone who's 1st 5 stops are houses and was dead serious too 😐🤣🤣🤣. Like dude, wtf, in what world is that possible?! Especially when apartment building don't have 1 click access, the buzzer/intercom doesn't work, the customer doesn't answer the phone (or doesn't leave their phone number in the app), etc. And then this new stupid update where you can't just group it all together. lol, it's crazy man.
This is crazy, in France the Amazon delivery people can open the building and open our individual, locked mailboxxes and stick the package directly in our mailbox.
That’s wild and that’s not even including if there’s over flow packages involved
omg dude same it was hellll delivering to a mega complex of 35 huge ass buildings yep some 3 levels esp when the nav is wrong🤦🏻♀️😭 or literal unsafe conditions, stairs crumbling i wanted to strt at another dsp but afraid of jumping from frying pan into the fire. i was delivering in upscale/think im gonna get similar to wut u have🤕

Yeah. interview with other DSP's first to see if it's worth jumping ship
yeah we've had to do this for awhile if there werent anymore Amazon lockers empty to put them in. Apartments and having to wait for signatures were the worst at Fedex for me tho
As a USPS worker I usually leave packages in mail rooms, or by the cluster boxes. However, where I work is really ghetto and dangerous and ppl steal packages so sometimes I walk up and deliver big packages that won’t fit in their cluster box.
In Poland, it's D2D deliveries are normal. What's more, it's mandatory that the package be delivered personaly to the person that ordered it. If they're not home, drivers take the package back to the truck and they(or another driver) tries again next day. But the most common way to deliver packages are actually the lockers not unlike the ones at the end of the video. They are virtually everywhere
I’ve switched multiple dsps and it’s not worth it they stupid if you go door to door they rush you to finish on time but want you to do more than you are suppose to
I live on the 3rd floor (no elevator) and have deliveries only on days i will be home, when it says im the next stop i go downstairs and pick it up from them at the apartment door. Hope once i start working i have some customers that do the same LOL
I delivered too a few apartments and townhome’s, mostly all of them have a camera or the Ring camera, by the way your vids are great keep them coming. A day in the life of a Amazon delivery person 😅 can’t wait to drive the EV

Usually I scan all the packages inside the van and then I separate them by floor and go from there. Scanning every package by drop off you may loose so much time. Always follow customers instructions!
Apartment routes SUCKS! When i got to my first house address after the first 70+ apt stops i almost bent down and kissed the ground
I always have a ziploc bag with new plastic ware for any occasion in my backpack. I always come prepared
For some reason I always finish much faster when I have to do group stops to apartments or houses. One time I had 48 packages and I delivered them all in 1 hour for a 4 hour block I’m a flex driver btw.
Unless the instructions tell me to go to each door, the only time I go door to door at multi unit buildings are senior living facilities. And some senior facilities let you leave them in the mailroom.
Good to see you back C. I see A DEW sweat shirt... Is that home for you now? What cities you in? Funny I am ahead of to be r times. Most apartments I did door to door. Elevator made it easy for sure... Hit the highest floor then run the stairs down.
