Here is my cover of The Ventures version of “Apache”.
Recorded to a 4 Track Cassette Tape Tascam Portastudio 424 mkii, which I love for its built in limitations, and crusty tape-ishness that makes things sound even more like early 60’s recording.
Random Musings:
When I was a kid I would record "Apache" and "Walk Don’t Run" using our Karaoke Machine as a rudimentary 2 track tape studio (Bouncing tracks back and forth between the 2 tape decks with nary a care for generation loss!)
Growing up in Chicago I always though this song sounded like the theme song to “Wild Chicago”.
My guitar teacher was super into Surf Rock and taught me how to play “Apache” as well as gave me a copy of The Ventures Live in Japan. Amazing album. The live version of “House of The Rising Sun” is excellent.
