APA Black Mamba 33: Set Up and Speed Test

Спорт

APA sent me their Black Mamba 33 in for testing.
In this video, I set up the bow, give it a quick tune, talk about the draw cycle, and run it through the chronograph for a speed test.
Thank you to Canada Archery Online for letting me record the video at your shop - www.canadaarcheryonline.com/

Great Video and I'm pro canadian for products but is there a place I could try one before I buy. I live in Montreal, Quebec. thank's for the answers.

I've not seen a limb set like that for some time. Can you comment, why or how is this (superior, inferior?) to parallel limb systems that most manufacturers go with today? So much cool innovation here, thanks for the review!

I think you'd need to talk to an engineer to get a definitive answer. I've never had a major problem with solid limbs or split limbs. Solid limbs like this are a bit easier to work with if you are every taking your bow apart.

Not an expert or an engineer, I've heard that bow manufacturers moved away from solid limbs because the limbs were more prone to cracking and splitting where the limb forks at the cam. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable can clarify.

I was surprised to hear that you didnt get the birthday card speed yourself from the chrono with a 350gr arrow. Im wondering if thats due to the weight of the peep and or if the bow poundage was backed off from what it was shiped at to get to an even 70#s.

It’s the same peep and same arrow I use for every bow. Limbs are measuring 70 lbs on my scale.

The Bowtech Core SR tested just 2 FPS under advertised speed on my chrono. But yes, bows are normally 8-15 FPS slow

@@jasonnester9514 It was impressively fast. But the draw on the APA is much nicer. I had one other Bowtech also shoot pretty much bang on its rated speed (Reign 6, I believe), along with PSE EVO NXT 33 that I think was 1 FPS faster than advertised (the only time I've had that happen).

@@ArcheryTalkVideo I’ve always wanted to try an apa bow but we have zero dealers for them anywhere in this part of the country I’m a part time pro shop that’s attached to my taxidermy business sure I possibly could become a dealer but I’d hate to do a buy in before I get my hands on one

I almost bought an APA few years ago but they had some tuning issues and my local dealer told me to stay away . He refuse to sell me one because he had a make custom strings last time he sold one because the original strings were constantly loosing the tune and since this is dual cam bow not a binary it is very easy to get out of tune. Did you have any issues with cam timing ?

I was shooting a 3d course, had a screw come loose on my rest. Pulled my rest completely off put it back on and was shooting maybe an inch low at 50 yards on the next target. They tune like butter. They will show every imperfection in your grip though that was by far my biggest problem I’ve had with it.

I've heard that they pull about a half inch longer than they claim; like the 30" draw setting actually measuring 30.5". Is that true? I'm kinda hoping it is, so that it can get the 33 and put some heavy limbs on it.
