    Thanks for the tips Griff, appreciate it! My fan came on and stayed on. It was very hot in my garage due to the warm weather here in the netherlands. So i just let the bike idle for for 10 min. Then waited a few minutes, started it again and let it run until it was 99 degrees celcius. I topped the oil off until halfway point between max and min. Should be good👍🏻

    Awesome job as usual Griff. One addition, every other time I do this I also take the metal screen out the bottom of the oil tank and clean it with compressed air. :)

    hi Griff, what I missed from your video: some explanation about those 2 viscosities the cans show. When to use the 10W-40 and when the 15W-50 is better.

    Lads ( and the lady), there are those of us with off market Aprilia's. I bought a lightly road rashed Shiver 750 and there are the people who have Dorsudoros and Mana 850s. Maybe throw a bone or two to us. I purchased the bike after looking at an unaffordable Tuono 1000R. I have other hobbies as well so this isn't the only thing in my basket. Please spare a thought to those of us who are wanting to restore these bikes.

    Hi Griff, great channel keep up the love for Aprilia's! I've been riding them here in the States since 1997... So, I'd like to ask or pose an investigative query. How much difference in dimensions is the RSV4 engine to the RSV Twin Mille...?

    Great and informative video Griff. Just two small things…….first pouring into a jug not needed your watching the level tube as you fill, second once the oil is all drained and bike reassembled remove the oil pan of old oil, trying to fish out drain plugs screws sockets etc can get a bit messy.

  • @Munter1

    @Munter1

    @first last Still no need to pour oil into the jug first, l’ve changed the oil in my mille a few times, never had to use a jug, provided you get the bike up to normal working temp then use a rear paddock stand to get the bike level, then top up watching the level tube. It’s not rocket science.

    Pouring it out of a jug us a superior process. You can do any way but the best process is to pour oil into a jug .

    Did you not take out the oil pipe which goes into the oil tank to clean the strainer? Also, tipping the bike over always gets the last few Oz of oil out

    Hey guys, big fan of the channel and huge reapect for your work, i have a question, the service manual for mile reffers to Oil filter you are changing in the video and also some oil filter on the tank? i have never heared of oil change requireing change of two oil filters, i could also find no info on this, could you maybe go deeper into this? manual says oil filter on the tank should be changed every other oil change, is this necessary? How do you do it? i know its been a year since the video, but if i could get a reply it would mean the world to me, thanks in advance 👍

    Do these engines use much oil? After a couple of trackdays I had to top up about 250ml on my 2011 V2 Tuono. Also, is there a washer on the magnetic plug?

  • @berube361

    When you say two fan cycles, are you running it until the fans kick on and the shutting it down until it cools and then restarting until fans kick on again and then shutting down. Followed by a 30 second wait and then top off to a bit over the minimum line? Or I could simply take for a quick blast after filling with the initial 3l, long enough ride for fans to kick on and when returning home do the top up? Manual states 3.9l with filter change but ive read so many accounts of people overfilling or under filling. Ill be doing this on my 2010 tuono very soon. Bike is in shipping currently moving from west coast USA to east coast USA. Should arrive by second week of May and have oil change stuff ordered and on the way as well. Thanks!

    Hi from Greece.You are doin excellent job .I wish I lived in UK to bring my caponord to you.Just one question.The Aprilia manual refer the use of 15w50 oil.Is any cons or pros using 10w40 as you used in this bike.Thanks

    I know this is an old question but since nobody answered... As a "rule of thumb" colder climates can get away with or perhaps even benefit from slightly better oil flow at startup. Only the Rotax/Aprilia lab techs would be able to give a satisfactory answer as they would have the lab reports from the oil after running these engines on a bench for 50 - 100,000 miles. What I can tell you from owning a series of RSV / R's and using them all year round in central England is my bikes seemed to use less oil with 15w50.

    Greetings from Highlands 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Just purchased 1st generation Tuono from SuperBikeFactory , and after riding full day on next day won’t start...Found a lot of oil in air filter box. Got fillings, that they overfilled oil. Question: How is the hell oil gets into air filter box?

  • @pauln6803

    @pauln6803

    2 жыл бұрын

    Old message but... Crankcase breather spits oil mist into the airbox. They'll do it a tiny bit anyway and according to internet mythology (in other words might be bullshit) it's the breather arrangement that is the cause of oil usage on the V60. Non starting? Mine used to eat the odd battery and the reg/rectifier connectors can corrode.

    Can you think of something specific. To the falco that would Be worth making a film on? ..... I ask because they share a lot of the same parts of other bikes from that era, the info in the film is generic to v990 .. same engine as fitted to the falco ! Please get in touch and I’ll put something together for falco pilots everywhere no problems

    It´s a great video, just a shame you overdid the two sump plugs. No need to use the torque wrench if you already tightened them that hard without it.
