My dad has a samurai sword that dates back to 1470. The blade is still sharp enough to take a person’s head off with one blow. The detail in the blade and handle are so intricate. The craftsmanship is breathtaking.

for me, seeing the tools, weapons, and other items, just blows me away. knowing that for someone, long ago, they were every day items for them. someone walked those grounds as part of their every day life. they had happy times, and sad times there. children were born, parents grew old, and lives happened one day at a time. thank you for posting this

As a child I spent two years in Japan about 25miles south of Hiroshima. I fell in love with Japanese gardens, architecture of homes and castles and furniture. The use and treatment of wood and stone was stunning. My mother, God rest her, collected pieces from junk shops and shipyards that are prized possessions today, 60 years later.

There is so much to say about the huge influence on residential design the traditional Japanese home has offered the world. The work of architects like Frank Lloyd Wright are clearly inspired by the horizontal form, the relationship between inside and outside, the exposed timber framing, the flow of one space to another. The American Mid Century Modern look is all fundamentally based on Japanese innovations and sensibilities.

as a little boy I LOVED the Samurai! (still do!) I watched a tv show titled The Samurai, it was a huge hit in Australia among other countries. My sister won an art scholarship to Tokyo, when she returned she had a kimono, obi, the sandals and when she wasn't home, I used to put it all on, and my brother made me a pretend katana, I used an old scout belt to hold my sword, and would run up and down my leafy street like a Ninja! That was in the 60s in Adelaide, South Australia... heavens knows what other people thought? 😊 So, thank you for this amazing tour of a Samurai home with everything still in it, incredible. Try and source traditional Japanese music too, it heightens the atmosphere! I look forward to seeing more of the amazing Japanese culture! Thank you! Arigato gozaimasu!

I visited this mansion last spring. What I found most impressive and surprising was the extensive display of western antiques on the second floor, at the top of the stairs that appear at about 10:00 of this video. I was hoping footage of that floor would be included in this video because I want to show it to my father who is very interested in western antiques. I am disappointed that it wasn't even mentioned, since the official website states that it's one of the best collections of western antiques in Japan.

What a wonderful video. There it's an unlimited wealth of knowledge from Feudalism in Japan and the daily lives of Samurai and this is honestly the first time I've ever seen a video from a Samurai home especially one of such position.

I have never been to Japan unfortunately. Given the state of the world it is doubtful whether I will ever be able to or not. It is a life long dream and goal of mine. I would love to simply and gently place my hand upon one of the walls of this beautiful manor. To actually be able to feel it with grace in my touch. This would be amazing. Thank you very much for these videos.

Amazing and fascinated for me. Samurai Films were my partail of my childhood in Bangkok - Thailand cause of watching every day :-) Therefore why I like to see these items of Samurai and read about history. Here in Stockholm City nearby National Museum of Sweden, there is a little Island opposite Old Town that A museum (for free entrance) named OSTASIATISKA MUSEUM (East Asia Museum) that there are Guard Dress of Samurai to be shown too. I love to visit this MUSEUM a lot when I have free time from my work. THANKS A LOT FOR SHARING khá. Best wishes from STOCKHOLM - SWEDEN

there is no harm in learning from one another the good things, its amazing how bad crooked are snapped up in nano seconds and implemented but good characteristics are taking time, japan has inbuilt neatness in them tidy minimalist yet decent, keeping it in order.
