I have a ton of love and adoration for Ultimates and n this video I'll go over why I believe that ANYONE can clear an Ultimate in FFXIV. Whether it's UCoB, UWU, TEA, TOP, or DSR anyone can pick them one of these fights and take them head on if you have the drive to do so. This includes if you wish to find a static for one or even go into it solo with party finder (PF). I also hope to dispel some of the myths around Ultimates and their difficulty in FF14. If you've only raided in World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy 14 or both and haven't done this content, give it a shot! Also why are you reading this instead of doing the best content in FFXIV?!

This video echoes my experience so much. The first ultimate I did was DSR, and no other experience I had playing this game has made me a better player than that fight. I used to be so bad (it's embarrasing to go back and look at vods), but jumping straight into the deep end of DSR showed me that I can do it, and that with enough effort, anything in 14 is possible.

@@mobius4247 I'm assuming you're in the same boat that I was in where the content has already passed it's relevancy. Don't let that make you anxious about doing it. Look up a guide* on youtube for the fight (P4S in this case) and take notes. Then setup a party finder saying you've watched a guide, that you are learning the fight, and that you want help to unlock DSR. This video highlights exactly how things are treated in parties like these, and as long as you take accountability for mistakes and ask questions, you will improve and eventually clear. *(Different guides may use different strats, but as long as your group is communicating, you all can agree on a strat and do that one.) Never beat yourself up too hard over making mistakes. I've seen too many people (myself included) sacrifice value time progging by thinking: "I'm the one dragging the party down," and then leaving the party because they feel bad. No matter how much you fail, you are there to eventually learn.

Ultimates being a better content for new players to get into rather than easier fights is a bit of a wild take x) There's plenty of people who genuinely struggle with alliance raids, and would get absolutely lost even in an EX trial. Throwing them into Ultimate with absolutely no raiding experience would be like throwing a toddler in the ocean because "that's how you best learn how to swim"

I did UWU before clearing stormblood post MSQ last year, cleared Ucob 3 weeks later. Finished ShB just to unlock TEA and cleared in 2 weeks. Only then I finished ShB and finished MSQ to finish DSR without touching current savage aka P8 to P12. Only after DSR I decided to try savage and only did up to P11 to get BIS. Then I cleared TOP. I really agree with this video, ultimate is how you get good, you don't get good to do ultimates.

These types of videos are just disingenuous. Plenty of players are legit incapable of clearing anything beyond MSQ through either their own self imposed lack of care or possibly some general gaming incapability. Moving around in a 3D virtual environment can be really hard for some people to grasp, much less hit 1,2,3 and move out of puddles.

I have the ambition and drive to clear TOP, even before it was announced I always had the goal to once it was. Ultimate Prog Parties go 1 of 2 ways 1: You join a Prog Party that states that theyre at X point or X Phase in the fight and during the entire Length of a Lockout, You only ever see that Point ONCE or not at all, You've now spent 2 Hours of Your Night accomplishing nothing and the Party Surely disbands after Trapping 7 others into a party that clearly werent at said Point/Phase of that particular fight. OR 2: You Join a Prog Party that states that theyre at X point or X Phase in the Fight and after 1 or 2 Pulls where you end up wiping before seeing said Point/Phase that it was Assumed to be a Prog Party for - Someone either Leaves or Gets kicked by Party Lead, you back out, and the Party Disbands or goes back into PF as you Rinse and Repeat for the next 90 Minutes of suffering (If you choose to stay for that long) If there is EVER a 3rd way that "PF" Parties actually clear the Fight, its because its a 6/8 or 7/8 Reclear Party thats gonna look for that 1 other Player thats cleared it already, and take them in, invite them to the Discord and either Get the clear within 1-2 hours or they all choose to stick around in the server and come back the following day to finish it then.

You are absolutely right, those who say otherwise are afraid of the content and don't demand enough of themselves. One day 2 months after I started the game I was in gridania, I saw a reaper wearing an amazing looking scythe, it read Ultimate Omega Zaghnal. I assumed it was the normal drop from the tier raid from Omega as I had played tons of other FF titles before. So I progressed into stormblood and got all the way to Omega and got the normal Omega Zaghnal, I equipped it only to discover it was not the shiny version I wanted so much. So I got into google to see what dropped it. It said to complete the Omega Protocol and exchange it for a totem. Simple enough. Googled a guide for the raid and my mind was absolutely blown into pieces. The guide was 1 hour long and the fight being 20 mins total. WTF was that, never going to get through that. A couple of days of more MSQ progress and the though of the scythe was still stuck into my mind, I was decided to get it. So I started with small steps. I had both UWU and Ucob unlocked without even noticing because I wanted the mounts of the 4th and 8th raids and those can be done solo. So I picked a guide and got into PF. 2 Weeks later I was an ultimate legend. Decided to move into Ucob. 3 weeks after starting prog there I was a double legend. Decided to progress MSQ to unlock TEA. 2 weeks after unlocking I was a triple sprout legend. Only then I decided to finish MSQ to unlock DSR and TOP. Finished DSR in under a month and took a break because getting through P4S and DSR took a toll. After 1 month I was mentally ready, if I could go through all that then I can clear TOP, finished that in 3 weeks and finally got the scythe that made me start the whole journey. All in PF, with no add ons on my side, just the guys who have to bring it for the 3 mechanics that need it. I guess what I'm trying to say is: You don't get good to do ultimates, you get good by doing ultimates. Disregard those that try to gatekeep content with random arbitrary metrics. If someone think this is false, search in youtube, FF14 OMEGA PROTOCOL TOP DOWN POV, I left a comment there before starting my journey and one after finishing it.

Yes, but mostly no. All the pep talk in the world doesn't mean jack if the player themselves doesn't know what's actually required to attain the skill level required to compete and join groups that allow them realistic odds at a clear at a reasonable amount of time. Aka, none of those FC only runs where 7 out of 8 players only know how to drool over their keyboard. You'll help people get on track for ultimate clears by telling them the truth about what it takes to stop being shit and the first step usually amounts to >avoid playing with fellow shit players Because that's how you get casuals reporting in about some ridiculous experiences like "It took my FC 8 weeks to beat golbez extreme" and "My last prog PF couldn't get past looper".

The pessimism in the comments is insane. Yeah ults are hard. They take a lot of time and a lot of effort the whole point of this video is to tell people that if you are willing to actually put in that time and effort, clearing any of these fights is possible. If you give up after one or two bad experiences in PF or a static all that means is that you're simply too weakwilled to put in the required effort to clear.

Well yes but actually no. Anyone can learn Ultimates. But actually being able to find a group with the desire and determination and ability to actually have some kind of schedule to prog with? It's almost easier to win the powerball lottery. This is why there is absolutely a HUGE factor of luck in Ultimates. not because you don't earn it, but because 99.9% of people will NEVER get the chance to, no matter how hard they try or how much effort they can put in, the fact that there simply aren't enough others interested or with time is out of your control.

You can have a full time job and 2 days a week of off time on weekends and decide to spend 2 to 4 hours per weekend day to try and party finder ultimates. It will take weeks or months depending on your luck but it's doable, so long as you're willing to put the time into it. If you can't even spare 2 to 4 hours per weekend day to do it then you probably can't play ffxiv in general anyway, since it's an mmo that demands your time if you wanna do literally anything beyond afking.

But yeah, anyone can clear ultimates, its just the required time that will differ. And good luck reclearing in PF. Honestly that is the almost impossible task unless you luck out hard. Most of my clears in PF were because there were insane people in my party with over 100 - 800 clears. You cannot tell me that was not luck. I strongly disagree about Ultimates being the best first step for people looking to raid. It is true that with enough drive anyone can clear, but I have seen too many people with no prior raiding experience join an ultimate, die repeatedly, play poorly/inconsistently and then quit out of frustration or be kicked. As a bear minimum, I would say a pre-requisite to Ultimate is, know your job, understand how and when to mit, bring food. These are things you generally learn by doing Extremes or Savages, especially on MINE. You don't have to clear everything in the game, but laying a foundation will help you a lot and it will save you from being yelled at by the group whom already know these things and don't want to teach fundamentals in an Ultimate. Most Ultimate groups, sadly, are not the forgiving sort. My advice to any new raider is this, assuming you've never raided before, clear the ARR Extremes. Once you've done that, move on to Coils of Bahamut. Synced or MINE is up to you. The Ex's are easy with Echo but Coils will still prove a challenge. Being level 50 content your jobs will be basic and focus on fundamentals. Once you've beaten Coils you can move on to whatever you feel like trying next. Contrary to popular belief you still see Coils mechs return in one way or another, especially in high end content, so it is not a waste. Doing it this way will also gives you a chance to form a raid group of your own since Coils isn't in Duty Finder and you must assemble a group in PF if you want to do them properly. I have seen several groups start out this way. You'd be surprised how many new players want to give Coils a proper try.

This is probably the worst advice to give to newer raiders and definitely doesn’t do those players any favors with wanting to stick with the game if they’re starting with ARR content. While some mechanics are seen still, the old version of the game doesn’t play the same way it currently does. Your suggestion is more from a completionist/gatekeeper angle which doesn’t help anybody. Agree to disagree and all but, my suggestion helps players grow quicker and is definitely more enjoyable.

This advice is absolutely awful. I cleared UWU being a sprout barely 2 months into the game and became a penta legend in 7, I was a triple legend sprout before I got into endwalker and finished TOP in 23 days in PF. 0 experience in MMOs before that. Just pick a rotation guide, pick an ultimate guide and start progging in PF, that's the best advice I can give to new raiders.
