I'm waiting for tmr vilgerfortz beat geralt once then lost to him with yen and Regis but seeing as he also was the one who called for the conclave but they gave that to yennefer I'm ready for anything at this point I just love witcher that's probably the only reason I'm still watching watching over episode 5 as I type this and I just love that episode season 1 episode gave more witcher vibes but episode 5 in season 3 gave u the mystique and every thing I love about witcher the aura the secret enemy yen and geralt

She was cast at the last minute. The plan was for Ciri to also be a diversity cast, but there was an outrage and a petition was raised (which I remember signing) for them cast a white girl as she is in the books.

And last "Raven-black curls, wavy as a storm, cascade down to her shoulders, shining, reflecting the light like peacock feathers, swirling and rippling with every movement. Lips, wonderfully narrow and pale under lipstick." Pale skin, almost exactly opposite, triangular face - not really either, Curly thick hair - wavy at best, narrow, pale and contorted lips - not even close. I mean sure, she does not have to be exact copy of the novel, that is an authors fantasy. Also her eyes have been described as cold and evil numerous times. Would you be able to say Anya's CGI eyes were cold and evil at any point?

And, although it is true that Triss in the series does not precisely follow the books description, it is also true that in the games Triss is completely wrong. Books: blue eyes, copper/brown hair tending to reddish. Games: green eyes and fiery red hair. The only thing they got right, more than the series, is the personality: sweet and kind attitudes, but underneath manipulative and selfish like all witches. And, anyway, since the series is inspired by the books, it's actually not that important, because Triss is just a secondary character, not even that important, like for example Dandelion and Regis. The games made her almost a protagonist.

I personally love her as Yennefer. But I do have to point out that the books described Yen as having a "slightly receding chin", which neither the series nor the game's actress has. I think it would have been very meaningful to show a small chinned beauty, as they're seen less and less in Hollywood, but whatever.

The real "clap back" is coming soon for them when they're out of a job. Should have backed Cavill.

I know Yenneref from the book, from the game, from the musical, from the first series and I saw this character played 3 times during an RPG session (by 2 of my friends). Anya is almost the worst Yen I've ever seen, but behind her there's only one friend from the rpg session, and she had no idea about Yen, the Witcher universe, or acting, so it's hard to come off worse.

She is the perfect Yenn. People are just crazy haters. She reminds me of Yenn from the third game and that’s what I wanted. They made her less mean, which is fair lol

Even if she’s not the same Yen, she still is a badass in the show and honestly I prefer Anya’s portrayal.

I'm not gonna lie. Anya is a very beautiful lady and i love her performance in the series very much. But the fan wasn't wrong though. The Witcher was written by a polish writer, based on polish folklores. However, Netflix being woke makes it diverse. Say, if a Chinese writer wrote books like witcher based on chinese folklores, and Netflix replace some Chinese characters with white people, that would be racist, isn't it? But some ppl being holier than thou, accuse people of racism when someone complain blackwashing. It's not racist. If someone is racist, that has to be the studio replacing white characters with Africans and Asians. Oh, don't get me wrong though. This coming from an Asian who lives in south east Asia.

I don’t really know book Yennefer. I only know video game Yennefer. Her interpretation was nothing like her. But I still like her anyway because the characterization she was set up with she did very well.

The show badly needs writers not woke activists. And bring back Henry or I’m out!

That’s what I can agree with. People judging only her race without considering her great acting is very disappointing.

She is an amazing actress and did an amazing job as Yennefer honestly. And she is also very beautiful. I don't know why they're all bawling about.

The fan IS right, it’s disappointing that the producers and writers of this show purposely out of spite towards the fan base to go against accuracy and stay true to the material, books, and against Andrzej Sapkowski even, by casting actors and actresses who resemble NOTHING as the characters, features, or racially. No wonder Henry Cavil jumped ship off this

I always love it when someone says an actor doesn't look like the FICTIONAL CHARACTER they are playing...

Not everyone who watched the Witcher has read the books or played the games, I think Anya is perfect, she is sassy and Smokey and every bit the powerful mage, my only problem with her being yennifer is I want to be her.

@@lapislazuli6136 the people who make the program are interested in making money, therefore they want to make programs that reach the maximum number of viewers, not necessarily to please a devout niche of society, they owe nothing to the loyal fans they pillaged the original material from. How many times do producers and directors stray from original plots to smooth things or make the cinematic flow simpler, it can be soul destroying to a fan of a book to discover something has changed, however profit is the thing. How many people went out and bought the books after watching this project, I know I did, so I guess it achieved something for the original writer!

She is absolutely gorgeous but she doesn't have the yennefer mysterious background and aura. Also we all know she got casted because netflix wanted the diversity box to fill, that's why we see fringilla vigo as black and her role is increased as in books she was rarely relevant except in last book that too for a short time.

They are right. Yennefer was said to be pale skinned and ravened hair. This woman looks like she stepped straight out of a Bollywood village scene.

This comment section is disgusting. How can you guys call yourselves fans? You sound more like haters. I don't like either what the producers are doing with the series STORYWISE, but I do think *the actors are excellent.* Anya bought me the first episode she appeared. Don't come for them.

The show makers are the true haters not fans of the witcher novel and games. The show writers even admitted they didn't even bother to read any of the original material and casted Anya and others for the sake of proving a political point and nothing more.

It is not slavic only literature if you ask the writer, although he is from Poland he created a huge new universe of all colors and forms, that's his opinion. Strange for me is to want to limit this show or and universe to the tiny slavic culture. It was too small for Andrzej Sapkowski and it is too small for me. If you want to stay in this small box - go ahead enjoy.

"As far as I remember, skin color isn’t discussed in detail in my books, so the adaptors can freely show their craft, everything is possible and everything is allowed, that’s how it could’ve been, after all. They made my blonde Zerrikanians dark haired in the comic, because the artist had his artistic freedom. " etc. Is it his universe? Not anymore it's developed its own life based on the huge success of the books, comics, games and now the series. Be creative, open your mind, don't stay in your little box you locked yourself in. Or don't whatever you like.

What’s really funny is that 7 season run is ending early in season 5. Henry left because they didn’t respect the source material he was passionate about, the writers dismissed the fan backlash and criticism to the show, it’s universally panned at this point, it’s disrespectful to the Slavic folklore in the books, the writers openly stated they didn’t read or care about the source material the show was supposedly based on, the casting of said characters being completely off the mark and ridiculous…..I could go on and on. Oh and the fan was right. Can’t wait for this abomination to drift into the past and be forgotten about.

I was weirded out at the cast choice, cause I was used to the games, but then it made them have more character and soul that the games, I loved the cast in show.

She isnt bad, but there were MUCH better out there, kate beckinsale was my favourite for yennefer

The fan was correct. This was the worst casted show of all time.

Anya is gorgeous but she lacks that sophisticated mannerism Yennefer has, that was my main problem with her casting. It's not about her looks, it's about the way she carries herself.

There are many issues I have with the show, the cast was NEVER among those issues.

Netflix casting is just godawful. Black and brown characters spread all through out medieval Slavic europe.

yeah, she doesn't look like Yennefer, even the casting director admitted to that. Although on her own she is pretty.
