Play in Three Acts by George Ross and Campbell Singer
Saturday Night Theatre was a long-running radio drama strand on BBC Radio 4. The strand showcased feature-length, middle-brow single plays on Saturday evenings for more than 50 years, having been launched in April 1943. The plays featured in the strand included stage plays, book adaptations and original dramatisations. For most of its history, programmes ran for 90 minutes and were largely entertainment-centred, such as thrillers, comedies and mysteries.

I'm an absolute ignoramus re business & financial dealings. However, I found myself completely spellbound listening to this marvellous play.
What a wonderful story; very well written and narrated. As a total novice in the wheelings and dealings of business, I
Wonderful play about the inner workings of big business! Executed masterfully. Not at all dull and dry. Well played. Well done. Thank you.
Excellent !! Thank you for a reminder of the quality the BBC used to produce.
Not the sort of thing I would normally go for but it was excellent, thank you.
Wonderful! Rational complexity with delightful twist.
Thank you for this. Very well-written play and wonderful to have suspense without murder. Only problem is I wanted to use this to drift off to sleep but it was so engaging I stayed awake!
A real gem. These radio plays are, as expected, a real mixture of excellent, good and not so good, this one is certainly a winner!
❤😂🎉😢😮😅😊 Loved it, first time I listened. Still great! 🎉
That was really good, hi from a cloudy day in New Zealand
British industrial capitalism as it used to be in the late 50s and 60s. All very "gentlemans club", complacent and just ripe for aggressive takeovers, which were largely asset-stripping exercises, which happened a lot around that time and later. Even Ted Heath talked about "the unacceptable face of capitalism". Look up that, and "Slater Walker". Well, be that as it may, this was an excellent play, and as has been referred to, this was suspense without violence. Very entertaining. Thank you very much for uploading.

Thanks. Very enjoyable story with a satisfying conclusion.
Such a shining example of ethics in business. Could use more of this in the world today.

@@stevie-ray2020 Well, British Industry has changed. There's not much of it left. Not of the traditional sort, anyway. Industrial Capitalism gave way to Financial Capitalism.

@@janegriffiths7733 Hi, Jane! 😄 It's hot here.🥵 But we expect that living in the desert. But we're also in a 20 year drought, so lots of devastating wildfires going on at the same time all over the state. I live in an urban area, so have been unaffected personally except for air quality (smoke). But it's a difficult situation for many people. And there will be water shortages. Maybe this is too much info. I'm sorry if it is. How are you in the Wirral??? I'm interested. 🤗

@@tottiemae2258 hi never too much info,I've been following the audits and often think of how you are doing, I don't know your political veiw but Lin Wood is my guilty pleasure, things over here are crazy, what happens in America comes over here eventually, lovely to hear from you, stay safe

@@janegriffiths7733Do you mean politics as entertainment? 🤣 I had to google Lin Wood to find out who he was, if that tells you anything. 😃 Though I pay attention generally, I am non-political, neutral. I believe people, though some are well-meaning, don't have what it takes to resolve the complexities we are facing. But I'm confident that a higher intelligence with pure motives will intervene at just the right moment....well, you asked. 😉 But I'm always interested in listening to other points of view and learning new things. ❤

Peter Powell's production adapted for radio by David Turner with the Alexandra Theatre Repertory Company, Birmingham Somebody on the Board of Directors is a traitor! - and the enemy has involved an old-established firm in a take-over bid. To fight it or not to fight it? That is only one of the exciting questions posed in this unusual thriller set against a background of big business.

Who the traitor is...
I do wish you’d have provided a disclaimer to the toss-off use (twice) of the “n” word. A great story, well told, but ruined by the inclusion of the word that continues to promote racial bigotry. (I am a 69 year old “white” man.)

steviegaga, I don't approve of your modern awareness judging the past and this is a play from 1960. A 100 years earlier women were chattels until a new law in 1867 gave women the right to own property instead of being property that others could own. You might for the same historical reasons disapprove of slavery, but that was what the world used to be like, and it isn't anymore. So please confine your disapproval to contemporary people behaving badly and leave our ancestors alone, as they have contemporaneous reasons for their speech and behaviour.
