Anxiety, Intrusive thoughts, Mirena coil, hormonal imbalance and lifting mood.

A few ways I try to snap myself out of a “funk” or depressive mood when spiralling down after an anxiety attack or being exposed to depressive triggers.
Please note, I am not saying that hormonal based contraception causes anxiety or depression. Scientific research connects the two quite clearly, but I am saying in my own personal experience, The mirena IUD caused a hormonal imbalance and since taking it out my anxiety, intrusive thoughts and depression have lifted significantly. Coincidence? I personally don’t think so. But ALL women are different and react differently to different medications and birth control.
For some women, their birth control has saved their metal health. You have to do what’s best for you.
Please contact your doctor if you’re suffering. You don’t have to feel this way forever.

I’m having mine removed. I’ve never had intrusive thoughts until now. I hate it. I thought it was just me.

Thank you for sharing! For the longest time I thought I was crazy thinking that my mental health was being affected by the contraceptive, but it was! More women should know this, it might be their case, too.

See this is exactly what happened to me. Extreme intrusive thoughts, depression and anxiety. The doctors(two of them) told me that my symptoms simply had nothing to do with it and kept trying to get me onto anti-depressants(nothing against them, just felt like there was more to it. I’ve taken them before and needed them.) Well I’m here to tell you the iud causes them. And I’m so angry that I wasn’t properly informed of the pros and the cons/risks.

And I’ve been working on my mental health with a therapist for years and finally found a way out and was happy until the mirena. Sooo glad I did my own research and got it out!!

I got my Mirena placed in last May and literally within a couple of weeks I started having anxiety and panic attacks that were constant. I didn't even think it could be the birth control until I started having intrusive thoughts. I legitimately had so many panic attacks that it triggered a depressive episode and made me feel so awful. I got it out two weeks ago and I'm hoping that it helps. Because I usually don't have the intrusive thoughts or any of this nowhere near as bad. I also got myself into some good therapy. As well.

Listen to sura Yasin from Quran on laptop or cell phone, expose yourself to sunlight, and see the difference.
