You're not alone in the reading of manuals. My wife always makes fun of me for reading and keeping manuals for everything.

Sorry for the delay, but actually I rarely read the entire manual or I somehow skim and miss an important item. I'm a bit ADHD and unless I'm really into something at that moment I don't always read it. On the good side I have amazing comprehension, so if I do read something I usually remember what the main message of the documents or story was. On the fun side I do keep ALL of my manuals and documentation for the life of any product I own. (That drives my wife nuts.) Plus I hate reading for pleasure and prefer to only read factual info which my wife also thinks is crazy.

I didn't know what to expect until I received it but I was happy to see they had improved upon many other companies' designs. Thank you for the kind words.

I actually got to provide the "name" of a commercial version of what you just plopped on the top of your Anvil brewing rig. It was Harrybrew69's cooling condenser (Being commercial, on a 500+ liter vessel, it was a lot LARGER) - which I nicknamed "STEAMKILLER". It's awesome! For all the guys that don't have the space for a condenser hood (few do) to capture steam, this is the TICKET! This small device captures and condenses steam from the boil which you can capture in a bucket or hose to deal with it...rather than it running out into your garage or basement. Really great in the winter months. Great reveal...neat stuff. Cheers!

I like Steamkiller! That is a cool name especially for brewing equipment although I can only imagine it was probably very expensive to have custom built. If you are ever in Ashville, NC stop in at White Labs and ask to see their brewing set up. They recently modified their system to boil under pressure like a pressure cooker. Once it gets going they have a steam release system attached which is huge at least from my perspective.

@@BitterRealityBrewing Here is a link to the reveal: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hohpyqmsmJfgdtI.html The build was shortly before this - Harry is a man of many unique skills and he designed and built a commercial quality condenser and it looks super "steam punkish"...check it out! (Matter of fact - he built the whole darn brewery himself and his vlogs are a "how to"...he's phenomenal.) I will be making a trip sometime soon to Ashville, heard so much about the culture, I want to see it firsthand. Cheers!

I bought a Foundry 18 Gallon about two weeks ago and was looking at the steam condenser lid from Spike, but it does not quite fit the Foundry properly, so I was thinking of trying to build one myself. Then on Friday I went to the Anvil website looking for another piece of silicone tubing and there is the steam condenser plastered all over their home page. I bought it immediately. And I agree when you say it looks like an upgrade over other models, that's another thing that makes me glad I decided to go with Anvil.

The Anvil Kettle was my first purchase with Anvil and I've been happy with all my other Anvil/Blichmann equipment. Over the past year I've started working with them a bit closer and I've learned they REALLY listen to their customers and try to better understand how their customers use their equipment which has been a very pleasant surprise. Recently I had a support problem and they blew me away at every level. I had a tech support guy who sent me an email and ask me some questions. He then replied with a video of how to test for what he believed was the problem and I was shocked to see the support guy (by his name) was the same guy in the video showing me what to test for. Talk about hands on support! It was amazing and my problem was quickly resolved. (This issue just happened about 2 weeks ago.)

These are a great option instead of all the trouble of building a vent system. Been using the steam slayer for about a year. Works great. I run 65% power on 240

Also I drilled a hole in a rubber plug that fits in that lid hole. Took some heavy gauge wire and fed it through the plug and bent a hook in it. Then wrapped a piece of wire around my hop spider and bent a hook into the wire. That's a low tech way to hang the spider from the lid if you still wanna use a hop spider. Makes lifting the lid during hop additions a little tricky but it works

Sorry for some reason KZread "Held" your comment initially. I'm being blown away about the lower power that you can run. Jared, an home brewer that actually works for Blichmann mentioned he was able to bring it down to 50% percent on one of his brews. Amazing!

Genius! Never thought of doing that for the hop spider but it makes perfect sense. I'll be using the hop bag for now but great to know.

Thanks for the video, you might be able to let the water drain into your other Anvil and use the Anvil recirculating pump to pump the hot water back into the sink .

Good point as you may have noticed the hose that came with it, isn't quite long enough to get to my sink without brewing really close to my sink or on the floor next to my floor drain. 😂

Nice concept but according to the website you need to buy the lid kit and tri clamp adapter separately if you have the Anvil. So it ends up being 214.99 I like it but not that much yet. Im going to keep using my little exhaust fan along with box fan and dehumidifier if it gets too bad. I dont want to bag on it too much but Brian at Short Circuited has a DIY for 155.00 Enjoy that freebie!

Sorry for the delay, I will have to check that out as I've probably seen his video but forgot about it. He supposedly got one of these too and maybe he can do a comparison. I didn't realize about all the extras at first either but I do like that it appears to have several improvements over some of the competitors out there.

Thanks for sharing. That's a great invention for people who have the Anvil all in one systems. I wonder if Blichmann has one for the 20 gallon boil maker kettle. Cheers!

Agreed, I think with the right lid and a long enough L Bracket tube it would work with any system. Sadly those first two things might not always be that easy to attain.

Ouch. Hopefully you got all the parts you needed as I've heard good things about the Steam Slayer but for most new brewers trying to buy it get confused on all the extra parts they need (the site needs to be a little less confusing). I'd give them a call tomorrow to see if it has shipped or not and if not, why. Good Luck.
