Main problem with Antony is he is way too unbalanced, dribbling only with his left foot. You can see when he needs to change direction, his right foot is just acting as a crutch for his overall speed and balance. While Mahrez is very two footed and was the king of balance in his dribbling.

If I was a coach here is something I noticed in his style. 1) He takes on too much touches leading to errors. 2) English league has more athletic players and he must be better physically. 3) Fail to read situations when to preform a different action 4) Doesn’t just let the ball move and overbearing with the ball 5) Must know how to move off the ball/ be better at keeping possession. He can be better but some players are sometimes stuck in their comfort zones and habits. It probably work for him at before but he has to know now that the league is more mental and physically know than ever.

i see it now. his problem is mostly because he didn't use body feints, shoulder drop, or any kind of shimmy, and rely only on speed, which is a big mistake since PL defenders are notorious for being physical and athletic. dribbling is not just moving the ball, it is also moving the marker to create space for the ball

He's very nervous you can see it, I think it's a mental problem. He doesn't have the calm and lucidity he used to have in Ajax, and I'm afraid he never will in Manchester. The best thing for him would be going to a smaller club right now

Both Suarez and Van Dijk went from Ajax to EPL but did very well. It's just that Antony sucks.

With Antony it's simple. He's a player that relies on his springyness and first accelerations. In the Eredivisie his bursts were enough to beat fullbacks or centre backs. The things is tho, in the PL the average CB is faster than an Eredivisie fullback. The average PL fullback is a winger in the Eredivisie in terms of running intensity. So naturally, from a physical point of view, Antony is having a really hard time when he's up against fast full or centrebacks. He's simply lacks pace. Sancho had the same issue, but he's a way more advanced playmaker so he can play as a wide playmaker and cut inside to orchestrate attacks. Antony can't do that, that is why he looks so limited in 1v1s.
