Пять счастливых лет жизни, отработал на этой прекрасной машине. Эвенкия, Иркутская обл. Красноярский край, Бурятия, Хакасия. Часто снится этот узнаваемый переплёт фонаря а за ним океан тайги до самого горизонта.

На таком даже в качестве пассажира не пришлось полетать. А очень хотелось бы! Зато сын на таком налетал 8 часов и 20 минут когда учился в Тамбовской лётной школе им. Расковой . У них после 10 класса, летом была лётная практика. Вот все ученики 10го класса кто был допущен к лётной практике по здоровью там летали на АН-2.

This plane is awesome, a flying tank, reliable, strong and as simple and easy to maintain as possible also with a beast of a 1000hp radial engine, when there's gasoline shortages in remote places, pilots will fill it with normal gasoline and it still runs, it's insane

These guys know how to have fun. Nice to see the younger chap in the right seat give the elderly a chance in the left seat. Sadly, at 1 Liter per Kilometer my wife won´t allow me to have one...but I got myself a LHD Riley RMA with 55 hp and 9 bowden cables to regulate the mixture, timing, pre-heat, choke, the works. But that 1000 hp radial engine is spectacular, indeed!

I went to an air show near Casa Grande AZ a few years ago. They had all kinds of private planes there. Several home built planes, new general aviation, stuff like that. There was one AN2 colt there that was beautiful. It was painted black and red on the outside, and a plush red interior on the inside. It’s big enough to walk in, maybe crouching just a little bit. To me it was like a Half of a DC3. Very tall, total wing area, length, you name it. They can carry 12 people compared to 21-32 passengers on the DC 3. So maybe t smaller in that capacity. It’s definitely a big airplane though, and I’d love to rind in one. I was lucky enough to ride in a DC3, and that was one smooth flying aircraft! I wonder how they would compare!

It's also extremely safe. There's an article you can read on Google, just type "is an-2 safe?". I'll probably fly one of these in a few years at 25-26 y/o.

The new one is a turboprop that just was shown at the Russian MAKS airshow. Honeywell supplied the engine and that tells me Americans may be able to buy it sanction-free.

Before starting, so that the oil gets into all cylinders, is used for lubrication.

When the engine is shut off the oil being splashed around settles into the bottom cylinders. This will eventually leak past the piston rings and if you get too much it will cause a hydraulic lock on start up and bend a connecting rod or pop a cylinder. Rotating the prop 2 full rotations without stopping assures this doesn’t happen. If it does have oil in the cylinder you pull a spark plug and let it drain out for the fix.
