    …to produce a top ranked defense…to be the least penalized team in the league, or one of them…to beat the Chiefs at arrowhead…to bring in an instant difference maker during the season, one that immediately helped this team gets dubs…and the list goes on. AP can coach…and it certainly looks like he can evaluate talent as well. He got the most out of what he had and he didn’t get to pick the system, the staff, or the players. This year he gets to pick it all. Also one of the most disciplined team I have seen in silver and black. I love the hire because it makes sense. AP is ascending and I want to be along for the ride.

    After a team, any team has been in the "basement" for a long period of time, it's great to see them rise and become winners!! I'll be happy if the Raiders get the puzzle figured out and become a dominant force in the AFC West. Just like I'm happy to see the Lions in the playoffs and the Browns in there too. 5-4 with the 3rd easiest schedule to finish the season. The team quit on the previous coach, so the next was going to be better regardless. Numerous reasons the raiders got Pierce. 1. Cheapest option (as they paid Gruden and will owe Daniel's thru 27) 2. Nobody of note accepted their invite. ( Jim said hold, Vrabel said no, Johnson said busy) Wow Chris Richards and Leslie Frazier. 3. Fans wanted him, not organization. 4. Oh and they got Thrift store Tom and a ton of cap space. Good luck with that

    I love the AP hire. I was at Lucas Oil when the Raiders played the Colts in 2021 with Rich as their interim coach and on New Year's Eve with AP as their interim coach. You can sense how much a player coach means to this team and see that they play harder for these type of coaches. However, there's some context missing. Del Rio had one good season, with Musgrave as the OC, but he fired him after the 12 win season. From what I remember, Gruden was supposed to do a complete rebuild. It was supposed to take a few years. With Gruden the Raiders were the first team to beat the Chiefs by more than 8 points. Also the year Gruden was forced to resign, the Raiders started 3-0 and were a playoff caliber team. The McDaniel's era was just a dumpster fire in regards to his coaching capabilities.

I cant wait to see what happens over the next 2 months and see how much better this team/roster becomes.

    One things for sure, it will make the ORGANIZATION better, and right now, in this moment, I think that's what they needed there most. Maybe it only lasts 2 years, maybe he retires in LV in 20 years as one of the greatest, but they foundation being established will certainly last a long time. Way to go Raiders, now pass some of that mojo to the Panthers organization

    I only have one issue with the Raiders, hiring Antonio Pierce, by hiring a defensive, minded head coach. This means you have to bring in an offensive coordinator who will handle the responsibilities of playcalling, and if that play caller does a great job, he will be siphoned away from you For a head coaching opportunity . If you plan on investing in a young quarterback, This is the type of thing that could stunt their development. Upon further examination, my guess is Jim Harbaugh told the Raiders no.

  • @NortheastFrameGang
    @NortheastFrameGang5 ай бұрын

    First off, Jon Gruden was gifted a Superbowl, with Tony Dungee's team!... I must admit, Emmanuel Acho's name had not crossed my awareness until this moment. It appears that his time in the NFL might not have left an indelible mark of significance. Anyways, he raises a valid point in a cautiously framed observation. It is evident that the standards for AP have evolved since he rightfully secured the position, despite the potential inclination of Mark Davis towards pursuing Harbaugh, who seemed to be in discussions about a possible agreement. Unlike his predecessor or previous coaching endeavors, AP acknowledges the limits of his knowledge and actively seeks collaboration. He is restructuring the coaching staff to address his blind spots, leveraging the newfound freedom and authority to assemble a team tailored to achieve his objectives. In contrast to the familiarity that develops with a substitute teacher over time, the dynamics within an NFL team and coaching staff are distinct, with each member having a defined role. Players, unlike students, have the agency to express their preference for a coach they believe represents their interests and chances for improvement. The vigorous effort to retain AP likely reflects more on Mark Davis and his past decisions that led to the team's regression. Crosby's unprecedented criticism of the owner's management style, coupled with his survival, underscores the unique challenges faced by the team. Acho's oversight lies in oversimplifying the complexity of an NFL team and coaching dynamics. It is a far cry from a sedate high school classroom, and the outcome of AP's tenure will become apparent in the upcoming season as he puts his plans into action. While Acho focuses on win/loss records, he overlooks the significant improvement in the Raiders' defensive ranking from 22nd to potentially 1st over a nine-week period. This progress was achieved with AP running a defense he was already familiar with, without constraints. Considering AP's potential to enhance the offensive game, which was once the Raiders' strength but underwent dismantling under McDaniels, one can only imagine the positive impact he might have. His recent transition from player to coach gives him a unique perspective that resonates with the locker room, fostering trust and a genuine desire to play for him - a sentiment not commonly associated with Davis' previous coaching choices. Unlike a substitute teacher adhering to a district-mandated system, AP has the flexibility and access to resources beyond what was available when he was merely keeping the seat warm. Davis should extend support to AP, notwithstanding his initial preferences, providing the same freedom afforded to the Aces in choosing their destiny. The outcome, whether success or failure, should be met with a fair evaluation, avoiding the tendency to scapegoat Crosby and the fans as excuses for any shortcomings.

    As a Chiefs fan I think Antonio earned the chance to be a head coach. But the Raiders' issues have been a lot less about the head coach and more about their quarterback. Acho makes a good point that they only went 5-4. I saw a horrible Chiefs team look good when Romeo Crennel took over for Todd Haley. The Raiders still don't have the roster to be more than a middling team.

    The Raiders hired Art Shell as HC for the second time in 2006. He went on to have a 2-14 season an was fired for the second time in 2007. If the Raiders are serious about winning, they need a proven and experienced coach. The division already has 2 of the top 5 coaches in the NFL. If Harbaugh or Belichick sign with the Chargers, can Antonio Pierce compete and win the division?

    I happy he got the job. It not about should he have the job, it what can they can get him that will help the team. Who should we try and get? I think we need a great defensive man like Maxx Crosby(as close as we can get), that can help him get pressure. I think we need to also get a good/great receiver to help take pressure off Davante Adams. QB ugg that big debate.
