Great job on this one mate. You really put in some hefty work. Yes, I can see Conte implementing a similar formation at Chelsea, but more of a 5212. Same principles as the 352 but just an advanced playmaker forward in 5212. Willian could be that guy as he's got immense workrate. Thing is, hazard might be playing the pacy striker alongside costa. Next season is definitely gonna be a lot more enjoyable. Btw I'm not a Chelsea fan. I just liked the way Conte managed for Juve and Italy. What's your take on Chelsea?

Vidal at his peak in juventus was the best midfielder in the world, he could steal 6 or 7 balls in a match to then run at the counter attack and either make an assists or score himself. He was always running and never getting tired. Just like Ngolo Kante it felt as if the team had an extra player in Vidal because he could go from one place to the other in no time, always bothering the opposition on the ball and helping building up play when he or someone else won the ball back.

In fact, his 3-4-3 has been every effective against the most popular 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 formation in modern football

There is a slight correction I would like to make. When you mention that the left central midfielder is covering the left wing with the wingback, it is not accurate. You need to divide the whole pitch into thirds. If you observe the footage carefully, you will notice that Pogba never crosses the middle third to defend in the last third. When the opponent is attacking on the wings then the full back with the left center back would defend the final third; full back with left center midfield would defend the middle third. This is for the left wing. Similar case for the right wing.

He did it 2nd half vs arsenal they didn't score after that. Worked really well hope fully next game will be ^St: 19 Costa ^CF: 10 Hazard 8 Oscar : CM^ ^CM: 22 Willan ^LWB: 3 Alonso 28 Azpi :RWB^ CDM/(Pirlo Role): 7 Kante/ (4 Cesc) ^CB: Luiz ^CB: Cahill ^CB: Zouma ^GK: Courtois

Very good. I can't see him doing this at Chelsea, I don't think it would suit the players unless they make a lot of changes. Using 3 defenders has rarely worked in the prem either, but if anyone can do it Conte can.

Amazing analysis mate! I'm a Chelsea fan and Conte's success in the Premier League 2016-17 season inspired me, as well with the 13 win winstreak record. In love with the insights of the formation, specially the use of the strengths of Pirlo to drive accurate long balls and the attacking & defensive balance needed in the CM and wingback roles. Not the most used formation yet highly effective with the correct players in each position. I will replicate a 3-5-2 career mode in FIFA 18, sculpting the perfect player for each position. Mostly because I really want to use a regista like Pirlo. He truly is one on a kind. I will emulate a dream team below. Just few of my favorite players for each position with their specific role in mind. BTW I like using a striker more as a #10 (enganche) dropping so like a 3511 or 31411. C. Ronaldo/Ronaldo Nazario/T. Formation: 3-5-2. Gk: Cortua. CB: Zouma,Cahill, Kalidou(from napoli). Wings: Azpilicueta and Kenedy/Cuadrado. CDM: Matic,Fabregas & we need 1 more to buy. ATTACK: Hazard behind Costa....like Eder does with Pelle for ITALY. 3-5-2 is our formation...when we defend: 5-4-1...when we attack 3-3-4 or sometimes 3-2-1-4....so great tactics from Conte...

mhmmm... hard to say, maybe one of two reasons. A, Serie A general level is rather low (the rest of teams where nowere near juve level, specially Inter and Milan); B, Champions league brings another styles of play, while most teams in italy attack from the centre and with counter-attacks (it doesnt over-exploit the flanks in juve team) in champions league you face english, french, german and spanish team mostly, many of them use the wide spaces a lot (barza, chelsea, bayern, real madrid, psg to name a few). If you look back at mourinho inter in 2010, you will see that he uses a completly different formation for european games.

chelsea will never use 3 5 2, because they have different types of player, with other skills, they only have 2 good defenders, but ivanovic can play like a center back in right position, but in the middle not have a player like pirlo, so they use 2 midfielders and use a fast players like hazard william to make good chances to score, chelsea players have different skills, so 4 5 1 or 4 3 3 is a good choice for that kind of quality

controversial, Conte likes physical players (pogba, vidal, parolo, pellè) and doesn't let some quality players (like giovinco, insigne, bonaventura, el sharawy) play, if they don't come back to defend, so, players like hazard or willian will not play that much, specially in the first few games, so, people will complain a lot if he will not get good results quickly, but, i'm italian, i've watched him for years, he is great, and results will come

I just checked Milans Startling Lineup for the 2007 CL Final and all 3 of Pirlo, Gattuso, Ambrosini wer in it. The player that Pirlo lost his job to was actually Kaka. Pirlo had always been used as a Second Striker or played withdrawn behind the Strikers. (be it for Italy U21, Brescia, his short Inter spell and early at Milan). Then Kaka came along and that role went to him. Pirlo in a sense re-invented himself and just became a playmaker in front of the Defenders. Credit to Ancelotti on this one. Or Pirlo would have simply moved on to another club or been left rotting on the bench. Essentially he's made most of his career playing in front of the Defenders, YET he is a Playmaker. Certainly his Juve career will be this and also his Italy career from 2005 or 2006 to 2014.
