Thanks for letting me know..Best Peter
I won two Chinese chests at Bonham's/Skinners earlier this year. I contacted every shipper recommended with complete information, including a link to the lot. Two furniture shippers I contacted 3 times each. No one responded. It was hell. After numerous emails to every shipper in the area, I finally found a kind lady shipper 400 miles away from the auction premises, just a few days before Bonham's emailed me that they were putting the lot back up at auction. I will never do business with Bonham's again. You are so right Mr. Combs about having "in house" shipping.

Most auction houses don’t do in house shipping for a reason: liabilities

My personal experience tells me some shipping companies are working with the auction houses. Once I received one thousand dollars shipping quotation for 3 small chinese jars I bought very cheap at the auction.
Wow! What a great video! Anyone who buys at auction should really watch this! Very interesting and informative...as always! Thanks so much!
Your knowledge of Chinese porcelain is first class, and has been paying attention to you
I love the physical battles at auctions more than anything. They have resulted in me buying many bargains and also my "Opposition " paying much more than they should have for items....which makes them more reasonable to deal with later 😂
Wisdom from experience. Beauty as a commodity. The eye of the beholder.
Thank you so much Peter! The shipping is too much hassle! And too expensive! It really stops lots of people🙏💙
Every time I watch I learn. cheers Peter.
As always, you are almost always correct. Keep up the good work. You are quite wonderful.
Hehe… you just made me feel really dumb for thinking “damn those clowns, they didn’t understand the market and got me excited for a piece I thought was in my range”… They did their job well; got me registered and bidding, and even if they didn’t sell to me, they probably had hundreds of others engaged and interested which pushed the items over. “But isn’t that false advertising?” “No mate, it’s art…”
Thank you, Peter!
Thank you Peter. I would guess few of us are involved in the mega $$$ sales. But the psychology is still the same. Expectations meet opportunity. As you preach: Leave bids.
Hi, Peter, thank you so much for the interesting insight of auction. I noticed you have a cut on your hand, hope you are okay.
I agree with everything you said Peter. However, one word of warning about low estimates from a personal experience. If your items go missing or are stolen from the auction house before they are sold, your insurance coverage is limited to the low end estimate ONLY. Yes, your piece may have sold for $25K but if your on paper estimate agreed to with the auction house was $3-$5K, you will only be covered for $3K. READ YOUR CONTRACT!
Thank you, this was insightful !
Thank you very much! I really learned a lot.
Great video.
Its true, I hope things I want far from me can priced the shipping cost for them, and nearby auction better not.
Thank you for the eye opening video. Love it.
I just think items have to very rare to beat an estimate. 90% of the items on Bid Amount do not command the enthusiasm for a bidding war.
Bidding is somewhat akin to swearing you would never have sex on the first date -- once the moment seizes you, that's it!
Yeah, well I overpaid for an art book from that Jackie auction, she was an art book editor and who knows if she ever touched it, but after a cocktail, it is fun to think she might have and that Sotheby's Jackie auction bookplate is fun after another cocktail.😅
good👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I have 2 Ming era vases. How does one get them appraised? Love your channel 🎉
Greetings from Pini Andrea, can I send you some items bought in Scotland in the '60.
