Antiplatelets - Pharmacology in easy way
How platelets are activated and aggregated? What are the possible drug targets as antiplatelets? Aspirin is a tromboxane A2 synthesis inhibitor, clopidogrel, ticlopidine, prasugrel are ADP receptor antagonists and drugs like abciximab, tirofiban, eptifibatide are GP IIb/IIIa receptor atagonists.
Few of the vasodilators like dipyradamole, cilostazol and epoprestenol can also act as antiplatelets.
