Its her fault that we have nothing to export to other countries. She gave the police powers to break the unions. Its not good is it? She was no good. She destroyed communities she fritted away north sea oil. I was only 2 when the Falklands happen but I wont forget that is was a preventable war. She fucked everything up. She described Nelson Mandela as a terrorist. She destroyed the miners jobs. She wouldn't engage with terrorists yet she was a friend of Pinochet. She tried to hit all of us with the poll tax. Selling the railways selling the gas selling everything. She put a whole industry down to their knees. She killed the community I come from. Dead dead dead. She stole the milk from our schools. She took away my school milk when I was little and she saved it all up for David Cameroon to have a bath. How do you feel about Margaret Thatcher's death. At the moment sir I have no idea. scabbycat cat A good friend of mine used to hate Savile and when I asked him why he told me that Savile used to sexually abuse children in hospital. I asked him how he knew this and he said the nurses had told him when he was in hospital for a spinal injury. I now believe that everyone who knew Savile knew what he was up to.. Including Thatcher.

Thatcher and Ragan promoted buying debt on credit cards and an 'aspirational' society on tick which established and helped fuel the boom and bust culture. Instead of using north sea oil revenues to restructure our manufacturing industry she used it to bankroll it's closure and 3 million+ unemployed leaving the growth of the service sector to float the economy which was dependent on how much money people had in their pockets and how much debt they were prepared to buy on their credit card.

The unions made no secret of their communist agendas and they came within a whisker of acheiving their totalitarian goals. It took a very strong and determined leader to sort this country out. Thatcher always said her biggest accomplishment was New Labour. Her policies were so strong, needed and relevant that her opposition had to adopt many of her policies. They had no choice. Remember Labour almost dissolved in 1983-1985 due to how bad they were beaten.

She closed down businesses that weren't making enough money, caused thousands of people to go unemployed, tried to introduce a poll tax which means that everyone would have to pay to register to vote which means that those without the extra money actually couldn't vote, took away milk from public schools saying it's the parents fault if they couldn't afford to buy milk, and has been heralded as a feminist icon because she was the first british prime minister but actually said that she had nothing to thank the women's lib for and described feminism as a poison.

The ignorance and stupidity of these narrow minded people sickens me and makes me embarrassed to be English. First and foremost; do not disrespect the dead. Secondly she was a very strong woman and if any young girl wants a role model to look up to, look no further than the woman who broke into a completely male dominated work place and raise to the top of it. Thirdly, people are outraged at what she did to separate the gap between rich and poor, but in her own words; "You would rather the poorer be poorer and the rich less rich" so long as the gap is smaller. Fourthly, she destroyed the mining industry and several other out dated industries to bring the entire country into a more modern era. Yes villages were left without income, but for the sake of an entire nation, we should not let the minority halt progress so they are not left uncomfortable (relatively speaking) for a decade or two. Fifthly, these gay or otherwise inclined people blaming thatcher as the cause of their problems... This was the state of mind back then, and however wrong it was, it was not Thatchers ideology which biased the country towards homophobia, the nation already was in this frame of mind. Alan Turing was a one of the unfortunate gay individuals who was around during the intolerant times and experienced the brunt of government homophobia after he contributed towards winning WW2. Churchill was in power at this time but we don't blame him for the wrongs, he is not directly responsible for the mindset of a nation, and neither is Maggie.
