Labour Try To EJECT Peter Whittle from London Assembly for Saying Party Isn't Patriotic

Delivering a passionate defence of London's heritage during Mayor's Question Time, Assembly Member Peter Whittle (founder & director of the New Culture Forum) condemned Sadiq Khan's new committee for "reviewing" historic statues and questioned the true motives behind its creation.
Sadiq Khan's Labour comrades then attempted to eject Peter Whittle from the Assembly for claiming that the Labour Party "doesn't really like patriotism very much."
Their "outrage" is puzzling given that Party Leader Keir Starmer and Corbyn's failed heir Rebecca Long-Bailey have both recognised that the great British public identified a lack of patriotism as a key issue for not voting Labour in the last general election...

Jane well you might to think about how ‘white people’ took away the land from the native Australian (the aborigine). The wealth and prosperity that arose on the other side of the world didn’t end up in the hands of the native Australian. If the population of the UK has a greater percentage of ‘black people’ why would this worry you? White people continue to hold most of the wealth in this world and have done so for centuries. Whittle and his followers want to keep things exactly as they are because whisper it: ‘slavery wasn’t that bad after all and besides we agree with racism’:

James Watts.. it is about revisiting our history and not just picking our ‘achievements’. The British Empire invaded territories and played their part in creating slavery. Some of those called heroes who had statues made of them centuries ago made their fortune from it. Why is it so difficult for you to consider that the ‘Land of Hope and Glory’ has a mixed history like all other countries? Is that you think that black people need to stop moaning? We all want equality of opportunity. Our ancestors may not have had that.

It seems silly to us (normal people) but it actually is a terrible crime in their eyes for him to be allowed to speak. The left absolutely hate anybody that is opposed to them. They've always been this way, ever since left-wing ideology exploded onto the world stage a century ago. The Soviet Socialist movements outright executed people who disagreed with them. The German National Socialists (NSDAP, also known as Nazis) put people who disagreed with them in concentration camps or executed them (or killed them through starvation and slave labour). Cuba, Cambodia, China, every other Socialist movement you can think of executed people for disagreeing with them or speaking against them. A part of left-wing ideology is intolerance of speech, to the point that they will literally kill you when they have enough power in a country to do so. This man told the truth. It angered them because they know it's the truth. That IS a terrible, unthinkable crime in their eyes.

As an American living in Britain and who is also the child of a Cameroonian who loved Britain (and lived under British colonialism), I am embarrassed by these immigrants and self-hating Brits. Britain is a wonderful country and should be celebrated as it is, not conformed to numerous divisive extra-cultural mouths. I very much respect British culture. Love Britain or leave. That love or leave statement applies to any and all countries. I’m thankful for Britain’s bestowing on my country its good laws and for bringing education and shoes to my father’s country, and drawing many of them out of the darkness of superstition. I’ve met Indians and Pakistanis and Iranians who believe the same.

Look at East End of London. That was a very resilient community - genuinely a community - that had been forged through centuries of hardship. The East End cockneys built an indigenous social eco-system that was destroyed at a stroke - as by a wildfire - due to policies of mass immigration The less you have the more you rely on such communities which provided dignity for poorer Londoners. Communal identity binds people to shared values and shared ways of behaviour and it means people can rely on each other if things go wrong. It's not just a matter of bigotry and pride. Shared identity and patriotism is a safety net for poor people. No wonder the likes of Emily Thornberry don't understand.

I agree with Peter Whittle in that we need to protect our cultural heritage. It is not up to the London Mayor or a new committee to destroy our historical monuments in our capital city. It is for the British people as a whole to decide not a committee who may not represent the majority in terms of opinion. The destruction of our cultural heritage reminds me of the destruction of monuments in Nimrud in Iraq and the destruction of the monuments in Afghanistan.
