Exactly. Freedom of speech costs nothing, so they are happy to give it away for free. Yet we don't have a right to decent paying work, affordable housing, affordable heating and so on. Anything that would impact the unearned profits of the wealthy, we don't get for free. Speech? Yes, we can have that. Thank you Lord Smug.

I'm sorry, but can we take a step back and acknowledge that it is insane to have politicians (sitting MPs, no less!) with their own TV shows? The country has normalised it through their being able to write thought pieces in the press and also be on the airwaves, but those two things were already crazy enough to watch occur in a democracy. They have plenty of political spaces to address the public in. If they want anything extra, it should be under the scrutiny of journalists. We have normalised them having absolute "freedom of speech" to say anything without citizens having any way of speaking back except for elections. Not a democracy.

I'm assuming you also have a problem with David Lammy presenting a show on LBC? What about ex-Labour MP's such as Ed Balls, and the likes of Alistair Campbell, who have presented Good Morning Britain on ITV? Seen any other ex-MP's from any other political parties on there? GB news helps address the balance. And Rees Mogg does criticise government policy and debates fairly, unlike Lammy who uses his presenting role to support Labour policy without any proper critique. GB news also interviews Andrew Brigden MP while mainstream media won't allow him to be heard. So much for freedom of speech on other channels, and if you care about democracy you might better be concerned about why this is.

This happens many times and for significant periods of time and the only person's voice that you can hear and follow is hers because she makes her argument so confidently and articulately. She takes control of the conversation and undermines everything JRM tries to say - very skilful. Opposition parties watch and learn!!! Can't we just make her Prime Minister!!! 🙂

As a brit that has been away for nearly 30 years, I came back for three months last year, and to be honest, I couldnt wait to leave again, the thriving industrial town that I grew up in was a ghost town, it was very difficult to hear the english language being spoken, Im not a racist, I think everyone deserves the right to a better life. and I do mean everyone, but I was looking at notices for vacancies in various workplaces, and they were openly stating that applicants should be fluent in Romanian, Uzbek , and various other eastern european languages, and Im sure it is like this all over the UK where british citizens are excluded from the possibility of gainful employment because employers prefer immigrant workers who will work the longer hours and be happy with substandard pay. During my visit, I learned about the new social security set up, where everything is done online, and an assessor will determine if an applicant is able to claim, as a british citizen, I found the system to be racially biased in that had I come from any eastern european country or Asian, then the consideration would be positive, indeed had I arrived as a ukrainian citizen, I would have been given a 4 star hotel room to reside in, food would be available from the get go, clothing allowances, money in the pocket and so on, Funny thing about this whole brexit charade, there were people like Nigel Farage running round spouting absolute crap about protecting british sovereignty while all the time, they did exactly the opposite of what they promised the british public, They have encouraged the use of cheap foreign labour because they have accepted Britain as a retail nation, we produce nothing, we used to produce the best steel in the world, and from that steel we used to produce ships, construct bridges, we were industrial leaders, and I look at the people running the country today, and those wanting to run the country, (I wont call them government, because a government implies that they have some idea at least of how to run a country in such a way that it improves and prospers) and there is not one political party fielding anyone fit to run a chicken farm let alone the country. Politics is not a career, its a vocation, but today, politicians are only interested in serving for their own needs and not those of the people, So many promises were made during the whole brexit farce, and nobody is being held accountable, Many companies, foreign companies, set up their bases in the UK because it gave them free entry into the much larger european market place, YES, they were using the UK to do this, but the UK was benefitting from this in taxes, work force and so on, so what did the UK people do? they listened to those who SHOULD know better and voted to exit the european common market, the very organization that was helping to keep britons at work, maintain affordable services, and it was all cancelled because the british public were promised a brighter and stronger future. The major problem with the european government was not the european government, it was our elected representatives that didnt do the work they were employed to do, most of them never even showed up to meetings that would effect UK citizens, Nigel farage for instance, he was responsible for protecting our fishing rights, he attended 2 of the 38 meetings, and then complains that europe doesnt listen to the UK, how can they listen if youre not there to speak up? Regardless of what any politician says from this point on, its a lie, an excuse , the politicians failed the nation, because of self interests, and they sold the UK out and now want to pin the blame on the british public basically saying that they are being unreasonable in wanting affordable energy, affordable services, a decent paying wage. The united kingdom is on the verge of splintering, its on the verge of total financial collapse, and it is on the verge of revolution. instead of wasting time on talk, talk is cheap, they need to focus on trying to turn the fall around, they need some real time actual plans to bring about the start of recovery. Everything we had, has been squandered, right from the very start when the first nationally owned industry was sold off to go into the private sector, they lied to us then saying it would create lower prices, because it would create competition, NO! it only meant that the earnings from those nationalized industries would go into private pockets instead of the government. the country is a shambles, its a joke.
