Anthurium Sugar Flower Tutorial (Gumpaste / Flower Paste)

In this tutorial I show you how to make an anthurium sugar flower. These are so popular right now and surprisingly quick and easy to make! The only specialist piece of equipment you need for this tutorial is an anthurium veiner for the spathe. I have used a Squires Kitchen Great Impressions Anthurium Dimpled Flamingo (Large). You can purchase the same one here www.squires-shop.com/product/...
My Pinterest inspiration board for the Anthurium can be found here to give you ideas for colours and arrangements www.pinterest.co.uk/thebotani...
Homemade flower paste / gumpaste is the key to achieving thin and lifelike petals and leaves. You can find my recipe here thebotanicalcakestudio.com/pr...

Beautiful video. Could you explain why you use the cornflour with the coloured dusts please? Also it can be quite hard to hear you well at times, maybe that's because I'm all the way over here in Australia...😁

Sorry that you are having trouble hearing it. I'm not sure why as the sound comes out fine and clear from my end. You can however turn on the subtitles if you like? There is an icon for this at the bottom right of the video. (It's the second icon from the left in the bottom right hand corner) The cornflour helps to soften the colour to make it not so concentrated and I also find that it blends better onto the flower paste. Without it, sometimes you can end up with too much colour on certain areas so it helps to blend for an even finish :)

Will sugar flowers wilt/melt in the fridge? I’m making these and not sure if I can place on my cake then put in the fridge with the cake. Thanks so much for your help! You’re truly amazing!

Hi Selena! Yes, sugar flowers will wilt/melt in the fridge. You must never place them in the fridge. If you need to refrigerate your cake, then I would recommend only placing the flowers on the cake when you are ready to display/serve your cake :) Hope that helps!
