The Botanical Cake Studio
The Botanical Cake Studio
The Botanical Cake Studio was founded by cake artist Clare Margary. An ex-chef trained in Professional Cookery and Patisserie & Confectionery, in 2012 Clare created her own side-line venture, Little Bear Cakery.
Over the past 8 years, Clare has found her true passion in creating incredibly lifelike sugar flowers. During this time she has developed her own unique techniques which she will now be teaching as part of The Botanical Cake Studio. 2020 saw the launch of her brand new garden studio where students can learn from Clare in person in either one-to-one or group classes. She will also be creating a series of online tutorials and courses to make her teaching accessible to all.
Whether you are a complete novice, or a cake designer in your own right looking to develop your skills, The Botanical Cake Studio is a space where all levels are welcome. Clare looks forward joining you on your sugar flower journey.

simplemente muy hermosoooooooooooooo muy agradecida
Beautiful, so realistic, doing a wedding cake in October. Bride wants certain colours. Have done pink peonies, freesias are a have to, orange tea roses, so I think the bougainvillea in white and foliage will look lovely.
Thank you for showing us how. Could this be used to stick isomalt to wafer paper and /or isomalt to fondant?
I haven’t tried it with those. I would have thought it would work for wafer paper to isomalt. However I’m not sure that it would be strong enough to stick isomalt to fondant
، so beautiful and neat work thank you for sharing your thoughts
Thank you for your lovely comment. I’m glad to you liked the tutorial 🥰

You’re welcome! 💚
I love to see the completed arrangement using these hydrangea
The finished cake is on the homepage of my website thebotanicalcakestudio.com 💚
can we dry it without putting in the oven?
Yes you can. It is much quicker to dry in a low oven though
Thank you so much for sharing. How do l get the bleached effect on the leaves. Also if l want to add cymbidium and cattleya orchids to the arrangement how to l achieved the dried flower effect. Thanking you in advance.
Hi Shireen, I offer a teaching “power hour” on Zoom if you would like some bespoke learning. Just send me an email at [email protected] if you would like more info. Clare 💚
So beautiful.
Thank you 💚
Love the ease you share
What will i do if we don't have microwave oven
It isn’t a microwave oven, I use a dehydrator which is essentially a small fan oven. If you have a fan oven which goes down to 50 degrees Celsius that will work. Alternatively, just leave to dry at room temperature (this just takes longer)

Unfortunately a lot of the petal placement is done out of the camera’s view, which is really frustrating. Beautiful flower.
This is one of the first tutorials that I filmed so my camera set up wasn’t the best. When I get a chance I will refilm a new one as there has been a lot of request for it. I do have lots of very detailed rose classes in my online school that you might be interested in 💚
Que tipo de papel usas sobre el papel aluminio?
Usó papel pergamino
It is baking parchment
This is so intricate. Great tutorial, thank you!
Thanks for your comment! I’m glad you enjoyed it 💚
Woow👌

Thank you Laura 💚
Interesting

Muito linda 💕🇧🇷
Thank you 💚
Beautiful ❤
Flowers are lovely and the parts that could be seen were very helpful but if you could please consider refilming with the WHOLE thing in view it would be ever so much better!
Excellent, super and simple way of being very practicable regarding all stages. John chennai. India.
I’m so glad you found it useful. Thank you for your comment 🙏
Complete novice here - what do you dab on the fondant before you roll it and before you thin the petal out? Thanks
Hi Shelly, I dust with a little cornflour/cornstarch to prevent the flower paste from sticking to the rolling pin/ball tool. If you want to make sugar flowers, I highly recommend that you buy (or make) a specific flower paste rather than fondant. Fondant does not act the same as flower paste and can not be worked to create delicate flowers. Hope that’s helpful! 💚

Gorgeous colour, and so easy . Thank you. 😊Mo
Amazing! I’ve been looking for a clematis tutorial for ages! Definitely going to try this. Thank you.
Ah perfect! So glad it’s useful for you! It’s a nice simple one 💚
Fabulously beautiful!
Thanks so much Jane 💚
So realistic and gorgeous!
Thanks so much Erin! 💚
Do you think this hypothetically could be used as a glue to capture small pests, like fruitflies?
It’s not something I have ever considered! I’m not sure that they would be attracted to it necessarily so it probably wouldn’t be very effective
@@TheBotanicalCakeStudio the attraction would come from the yellow sheet of plastic that would be used. Meanwhile the glue would be then used as described in my previous comment. So, simply for getting small bugs stuck, this could work?
only one way to find out.....? @@kiranp.7166
@@TheBotanicalCakeStudio hahaha indeed. Perhaps one day. Thank you so much for replying and helping!
Astonishing beautiful and perfect. You’re truly an artist
Bless you for your kind words 💚
So beautiful and lifelike, thank you for this tutorial 🙂
Thanks so much Jacky. I’m so glad that you liked it 💚
Thanks You! 🇵🇪
que hermosas flores ❤
❤❤❤
Super
Can you use hot water? That way it dissolves all the powder?
I’m not sure that adding it to hot water will make it dissolve quicker but you could try! You want to make sure that you start with boiling water though to sterilise the water. And always add the cmc to the water rather than the other way around
